CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1977 El Camino Classic in good condition for an unrestored car of this vintage. I purchased the car from the original owners son. Odometer displays 96,231 miles but the title shows it as rolled over to 196K, since I have owned the car the odometer has not functioned but the speedometer does work correctly. This is a nice car for the age and rides and drives very nice, no engine or transmission issues. The engine is a 305 V8 and the transmission is a THM350. Since I have owned it, I have put a new battery in the car, front brake pads and calipers, rear brakes and hardware as well as some lines in the rear. New rear coil springs, fuel tank sending unit, plugs, wires, and distributor weights. Old weights were sticking, not advancing properly. The frame just has minor surface rust and the floor pans are in great shape with no rust holes as well as the bed. The previous owner replaced the bench seat with what appears to be Camaro bucket seats and an aftermarket steering wheel, that I do like. It does need new carpet and the dash is cracked like most cars this age. The windshield has a birds eye crack on the passenger side. The windshield washer tank is cracked and broken and needs to be replaced. The car is equipped with A/C but the previous owner removed the compressor and the brackets as well as the A/C lines but the condenser, evaporator, and accumulator are intact. A new compressor and lines would restore the entire system. It does have the compressor wiring intact and stowed over by the master brake cylinder. Not sure why that was removed but I do not have the historical records for this car. Paint is old but buffs to a nice shine and the rally sport wheels give it a nice muscle look. There is some surface rust spots on the exterior body as shown in the pictures but no rust holes. The rear window lower chrome strip needs to be replaced and the weather strips on the outer doors are shot but are available for both driver and passenger doors. Tires are different brands from the front and back but do have good tread and they are not dry rotted. This car is a nice daily driver and would be a perfect selection for a full restoration if you so desire to go that route. For an untouched car of this vintage this one is one of the best. Both door exterior window weather sweeps have arrived and will be included with the car. There is some inner lower seam rust holes, on the inside edge, at the bottom of the passenger door but not rusted through the metal on the outside of the door. It does have some surface dings but for a car this age it is quite nice.
