1968 Camaro Convertible RS/SS396 (325hp) 4 speedNumbers Matching I have a real nice gem for sale. This isn’t the typical car you find for sale everyday. I am letting it go so I can work on a couple other cars. This is a special day to re-home a very collectible car to another. I have the parts for the car. The engine was sent out and fixed. The story line goes; the prior owner paid a buddy to rebuild it. He drove the car shortly and the rebuild failed. So, he brought the engine back and it sat at his friends shop. He got upset, purchased a crate ZZ 502 and had it professionally installed and picked up his engine and parts. I purchased the car with the parts. I sent the engine out to a “professional” re-builder and had the main bearing repaired. It is has a new seat in it and the crank now has a .005” offset. So, when you build the engine, you will need to have a timing chain with this offset. They are readily available. I also have a turned, crank for this. This is the crank that they used to fix main bearing. The crank is cast and not steel. The pistons are standard in the car now. So, the bore is a standard bore. (The car is a 325 hp) Off the top of my head, I have the Block, crank, heads (tore down and cleaned), intake, radiator, some pulleys, fan shroud and a variety of other things that came with the engine. The heads are tore down and they have had a 3 angle valve job done to them in the past. That is about all. They do not have hardened seats or have new guides. Pretty much stock. Overall, everything to rebuild the engine is there. The car does run and drive excellent. I have paperwork for the work done for installing the 502 and I also have dyno sheets. The car does 502 hp. Looking at the sheets, there are different settings that changed the torque curve. The value of the 502 is there. I looked it up on line and they are going for $11k. That isn't including all the plumbing to hook it up. Back that off my buy it now and you are getting the car at a bargain. The transmission has been rebuilt and there is a new clutch and pressure plate in it. Shifts great. It is smooth and very easy to push in the clutch. Does not wear on your knee. Definitely upgraded. I have included pictures of the car's identification in the ad. You will see, the block stamp, head casting numbers, vin on transmission, and the axle tube stamp. The body is in excellent shape. The car has not been restored. It was painted in ’78 with the green you see. The car is originally Corvette Bronze. The floor pans are super, butt here is a patch behind the driver’s seat. You can see the patch in the pictures. The rockers are great, quarters look great. Typical rust in the front corners of the doors and the lower parts of the fenders. Rust is there, but not terrible. The dash has typical rust on the corners. Doors open and close well. As far as options the car doesn’t have much besides the rs/ss package. Manual drum brakes, manual steering, manual top. Viewing of the car is possible. I live in Blaine MN. It is about 30 minutes for the MPLS airport. Shipping could be tough or even not possible from a transport company, because of the original engine being out of the car and the parts. I understand this and if you need additional time to pick up the car, I understand. I would want it picked up with in 60 days after the end of the auction. I do want the car paid for within the 7 day period. After that, it will stay inside until it is picked up. Contact me if you have any further questions.
