CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
One family owned 1955 Chevy Bel-Air Sedan, in excellent running condition. Drive it home. Last inspected and regularly driven 1987, but started and driven now and then to keep it up ever since. Mr. Dickson bought it brand new in 1955 at Kuykendall Chevrolet in Lubbock, Texas. His wife did not drive. He drove her to the grocery store, church, and beauty shop in this car, and it was always under a carport or in a garage. The son inherited the car, and then the grandson. That is the seller I represent. He had it repainted, and the painter did a fine job of it. He did not paint the door jambs - just the exterior. But it looks like he removed all the trim rather than mask it off. It was painted back to the original factory colors - India Ivory over Gray. It shows very nicely. He detailed the engine compartment very well. The chrome bumpers are original but still have some shine to them. The grille looks like only chrome cleaner and 4/0 steel wool is needed to remove surface rust on its flat surfaces. It looks good. The seat covers seem very strong, but the front seat is a bit soiled. All the original foam rubber has turned to crunchy dust. I think one could remove them, put in new padding, and reapply them. The headliner is intact. It has a small tear in the back and a small area on the other side of the back where it has come loose. It is usable as is. The carpet is shot and must be replaced. All door panels look good, but a couple of them need that section replaced that you pull it to close it.The only rust on this Texas car is one front passenger floor pan. That's it. Only surface rust will appear underneath. The rockers and braces are strong and rust-free. This is a very dry climate, which has been this car's friend. I don't know much about the wide whitewall tires, other than they show to have been made in Korea. They have plenty of nice tread on them, no flat spots, and the car glides smoothly down the road or highway. I did not drive it above 60 mph.The 265 engine is stock, as is the Powerglide transmission, which shifts effortlessly. All the gauges are working, as is all the lights. The only thing I forgot to check is the wipers. I noticed they are vacuum operated. The car is across town, and next time I am over there, I will make it a point to see if they work. The car is sitting in the garage of my seller's mother-in-law, whose estate sale I recently conducted. We have her home up for sale, and the car can remain there till new owners take possession. eBay told me that I am not permitted to give you my name or phone number or to allow you to inspect the car prior to purchase. If you need long-term storage after the purchase, it can go in the seller's rented RV storage unit for quite a while.eBay also told me you may purchase the car, and then we can exchange contact information, whereupon such time you may inspect the car and back out of the purchase if need be. They told me to encourage you to ask questions that I may answer in writing through their system. Look at my feedback. I want you to be confident in my ability to honestly represent this fine car to you. It runs and drives beautifully. We guarantee the mileage to be actual. It has not rolled over. The car is also available to sell locally, so it's first come, first sold.We require a $1,000 deposit at close of the sale through eBay. We are happy to cooperate with your shipper. Or you may fly in and drive it home. Thanks! -Eddie
