CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
OVERVIEWOriginal 1974 Mercedes Benz 450 SLC coupe with sunroof, in used condition. BODY, FRAME & PAINT The Pine Green Metallic (862G) paint appears to be original. Most body panels show some type of rust or rust-through. Body appears straight, with no visible dents . Body gaps look good. Front fenders show rust on bottom behind front tires, bubbling along the top of LH fender, and rust through on top of RH fender. RH door shows rust through along side trim molding, but bottoms of both doors look good. RH rocker panel shows only minimal flaking at the rear, near the jack hole. RR quarter panel shows only minimal pitting by rear bumper. Trunk lid looks good; trunk floor shows consistent surface rust, and rust through by the jack storage area. Spare tire is rusty, but there. LR quarter panel shows blistering by rear bumper and along the side trim molding. LH door shows minor blistering at side trim molding. LH rocker panel shows heavy blistering/rust through by front jack hole. All wheel wells/lips show rust/blistering. Roof/sunroof look solid, but I've never tried to open the sunroof. Frame shows heavy rust on the passenger side. Front floor boards are both bad; driver's side is hanging down (see photos). Rear taillight panel shows rust-through under tail lamps. LH tail light is cracked, with a piece missing. GLASS & TRIM Windshield is cracked. Rear window shows delamination at the bottom. Side door windows and rear side windows look good. Front bumper looks good; rear bumper shows multiple dents/dings. All stainless on the car looks cloudy, but it's all there! Chrome around rear side windows is pitted, as are both side view mirrors. Front grille and all emblems look good. Weatherstrips are cracked/brittle. Headlight bezels look good. Both fog lamps are cracked.INTERIORThe interior is the shining star of the entire car! Dash, seats, door panels and rear side panels all look great! No splits or cracks in the dash perfect! Steering wheel and dash gauges look good. Center dash and console cover look very good. Heater control bezels on LH side are damaged. Radio is aftermarket. Main center console looks bleached out. Headliner looks good, with no rips/tears. Visors look good on one side; stained on the back sides. All dash vent outlets look good. Seat belts and seat hardware look to be intact. Rear deck is faded, but sports two radio speakers.ENGINE COMPARTMENTCar has not been started or run, since I purchased the car. I was told the starter was bad, and was shorting out any battery installed. I have done nothing with the car since purchase, so everything is, "as it was". The only thing visibly missing from the engine is the battery and air conditioning fan belt. Everything else looks stock and unmolested. Oil was down a little, and looked closer to being fresh, than beyond it's useful life. Oil smells normal. I did briefly install a battery, turned the key and the headlight(1) came on, as did the seat belt warning buzzer. I tried starting the car - nothing.OTHERTires are BF Goodrich Touring TA's, size P205/70-R14. Tires have great tread, but side walls show slight cracking/checking. One wheelcover is white, and not body colored. I bought the car from the estate of the previous owner, who was a well-known car collector/dealer. I had no plans for the car when I bought it, but liked the color combination and thought it could at the very least be a great parts car. I have since acquired two early 450 SL's, and this car no longer fits in my plans. The care comes with multiple repair receipts spanning three decades 8/95 through 2/17, a PA Registration Card, and insurance ID cards. I have a clean Pennsylvania title in the previous owners name, which was signed, but never notarized. Personal inspections of the car are encouraged and welcomed. Any questions 7402434118
