CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Never restored, 1 of 6 reported still in existence in according to the 1968 International L78 Registry. The car comes with the original Joe O'brien Chevrolet purchase agreement proving this car was born from GM as an authentic 375hp L78 solid lifter car with 4 speed Muncie. Also included is the original assembly line punch card/build sheet removed from the back seat. I have a legal affidavit signed and notarized by the original owner's widow stating over the past 52 years since new it was never restored, retains the original vinyl top, original paint, and original sheet metal with never any rust repair. I also have a legal odometer disclosure on the Ohio DMV state form represented as only 8118 original miles by the original owner's widow. The hidden VIN has been verified on the fire wall behind heater core cover matching the VIN plate on the dash, so this is not a re-body and no the VIN tag was not taken from another and yes the original paperwork showing VIN belong to this car --- to satisfy all you skeptics!THE TITLE STILL LISTS THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S NAME. I WAS GIVEN THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE AGREEMENT SIGNED BY THE MANAGER OF JOE O'BRIEN CHEVROLET AND THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE CAR. THIS DOCUMENT SIGNED IN APRIL 16TH, 1968 CONTAINS THE SAME ADDRESS AS THE TITLE AND IS THE SAME ADDRESS I VIEWED THE CAR BEFORE BUYING. IN OTHER WORDS BOTH THE TITLE, THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE AGREEMENT SHARE THE SAME NAME AND ADDRESS VALIDATING ITS 1-OWNER STATUS. FURTHERMORE, THE CAR WAS STORED INDOORS AT THE SAME ADDRESS FROM 1968 TO SEPT 2020. NOTE: THE LAST EBAY PHOTOS ARE PHOTOS WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD PROVING ITS RACING HERITAGE AND THAT THIS WAS A TRUE TRAILER TO THE TRACK AND KEEP INSIDE CAR. BECAUSE OF THIS THE MILEAGE IS VERY LOW. OTHER INFORMATION:http://l78registry.macswebs.com/1968/1968.htmIMPORTANT: I WAS GIVEN MOST OF THE ORIGINAL PARTS NEEDED TO RETURN THE CAR TO NEAR ITS FACTORY APPEARANCE IF ONE WANTS TO GO THIS DIRECTION WITH THE CAR. HOWEVER, PATRICK GLEN NICHOLS OF MUSCLE CAR BARN FINDS AND OTHERS HAVE ADVISED THE CAR BE LEFT AS IS BECAUSE ITS SUCH AN AUTHENTIC EXAMPLE OF A "DAY 2" L78 DRAG RACE CAR IN HOW THEY WERE ACTUALLY USED AND RACED BACK IN THE DAY--- DOWN TO THE VINTAGE MOROSO FUEL CHILLER CAN STILL MOUNTED UNDER THE HOOD THAT WAS PACKED WITH ICE TO COOL THE FUEL AT THE RACE TRACK.NOTE: IN ONE OR TWO DAYS TIME ROLL BAR COULD BE UNBOLTED, FACTORY SEATS INSTALLED WITH CARPET, ALONG WITH DRIVERS DOOR MIRROR, FACTORY RADIO AND HEATER RE-INSTALLED. ORIGINAL OWNER WAS WISE ENOUGH TO KNOW NOT TO HACK UP THIS SUPER RARE VALUABLE CAR HE BOUGHT NEW AND TO KEEP MOST OF THE PARTS THAT WERE TOOK OFF FOR DRAG RACING PURPOSES. PATRICK GLEN NICHOLS OF MUSCLE CAR BARN FINDS AND WHO WRITES FOR HOTROD MAGAZINE ADVISED TO LEAVE IT DAY 2 BECAUSE COLLECTORS ARE NOW INTO AUTHENTIC "DAY 2" CARS LIKE THIS. BUT IT WOULD BE EASY TO PUT BACK ON THE FACTORY PARTS I HAVE AND REMOVE THE RACE PARTS--IF ONE WANTS TO.IMPORTANT:NHRA REQUIRED 3 POINT ROLL BAR UNBOLTS IN A MATTER OF MINUTES. NOT WELDED IN AND ONLY SIX SMALL 3/8 BOLTS HOLD IT ALONG WITH REAR POINT BOLTS INTO REAR FACTORY SEAT BELT FASENER. DO NOT WORRY, CAGE DID NOT HURT THIS CAR--NOT TIED TO FRAME OR WELDED ETC AND BARS DO NOT GO THROUGH THE FLOOR!TERMS AND CONDITIONS/DISCLOSURE STATEMENTS: THIS CAR IS AVAILABLE FOR INSPECTION IN PERSON AT ANGOLA INDIANA ZIP CODE 46703 BY APPOINTMENT. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NON-REFUNDABLE $500 DEPOSIT DUE IMMEDIATELY UPON PURCHASE. NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. I MUST ARRANGE THE SHIPPING OF THE CAR TO YOU IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO PAY MY STATE SALES TAX. I AM A DEALER AND WILL NOT FALSIFY SALES PRICE ON THE PAPERWORK AND/OR TITLE. INDIANA RESIDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO PAY 7% SALES TAX UNLESS YOU ARE A DEALER. I DO NOT MAKE ANY GUARANTEES PERTAINING TO THIS CAR. I PURCHASED THE CAR WITH SWORN STATEMENT AFFIDAVIT THAT HAS BEEN NOTARIZED. I REPRESENT THE CAR BASED OFF OF THIS SWORN AFFIDAVIT AND HOW IT WAS REPRESENTED TO ME, ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL DOCUMENTATION GIVEN WHEN I PURCHASED IT. THE PURCHASER AGREES TO HOLD THE SELLER INTEGRITY AUTO SALES HARMLESS NOW AND IN THE FUTURE AGAINST ANY CLAIM OR GRIEVANCE AS PERTAINING TO THE REPRESENTATION OF THIS CAR AS TO ITS OPTIONS, FEATURES, OR AUTHENTICITY. THIS CAR WAS MODIFIED "DAY 2" FOR DRAG RACING. I HAVE NOT UNDONE MANY OF THESE MODIFICATIONS. WAITING TO DETERMINE PREFERENCE OF THE POTENTIAL BUYER. I ACCEPT NO LIABILITY PERTAINING TO ANY ERRORS THE PRIOR OWNER MAY HAVE MADE IN THEIR ASSESSMENT OF THIS VEHICLE AS STATED IN THE SWORN NOTARIZED AFFIDAVIT. ANYONE CAN MAKE AN ERROR IN ASSESSMENT IN THESE OLD CARS. HOWEVER, THIS CAR HAS BEEN REPRESENTED IN GOOD FAITH TO THE BEST OF THOSE INVOLVED ABILITIES, I.E, THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S WIDOW AND FAMILY. THE OHIO TITLE I WAS GIVEN LISTS THE ORIGINAL OWNER'S NAME AND HIS WIDOW. PURCHASER WILL BE GIVEN NEW INDIANA TITLE AS SECOND OWNER WITH COPIES OF THE OHIO TITLE. I AM A DEALER WITH OHIO TITLE SIGNED OFF TO MY COMPANY NAME, NOT TO AN INDIVIDUAL. WITH THAT SAID, THE NEXT OWNER SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THE SECOND OWNER OUTSIDE THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND HIS WIDOW.RESPONSE TO THE ONGOING DEBATE ON FACEBOOK PERTAINING TO THIS CAR:I am the person selling this car. I have sworn notarized statement from original owner's widow notarized by the state of Ohio backing up all these claims. Furthermore, I have on the Ohio DMV state form an official odometer disclosure stating 8118 provided by the original owner's household how signed off the OH title to me. Also, it is documented in the International L78 Chevelle registry and was only allowed to be put in this registry because we have the ORIGINAL paperwork and purchase agreement from Joe Obrien Chevrolet where the car was purchased new clearly stating 375hp and 4-speed, and the car's VIN on that document. I also have the original assembly line punch card/buildsheet removed from under the factory rear seat bottom that matches the information on the car's original trim tag that is also sworn in legal affidavit to have never been removed from the car or tampered with. Patrick Glen Nichols, Dale Mcintosh, Jeff Macovich and other experts have reviewed this car and its original documentation. It is the real deal. I would be glad to show it anyone in person who is an able buyer. have several individuals presently considering buying the car but no deposit taken yet. I just got the car back to my shop in Indiana late Sat 9/12/2020 and do not work Sundays. I have over the past three days been taking more photos. Yes, I did provide two photos taken in 1971 to show the car has always been raced by the original owner and then put up inside. Started and moved regularly but never has been in rain or snow and the sworn notarized affidavit swears original paint and original sheet metal with never any rust repair. I stepped up and paid a lot for this car based on documentation and considering the same address I viewed in person and bought the car at is the same address on the original purchase agreement from the Chevrolet store where car was sold new. Also, same address on the OH title I have signed off to my dealership that lists both the original owner's name and his widow. In other words, this is one-owner car at my purchase with title showing original owner's name and address matching address on Chevrolet paper work when car was sold new. Car has been kept inside at same address for 52 years, same address I send a roll back wrecker on Sat to bring it to my shop at the cost of $420.00.. Raced early in its life and then put up. Car still runs and drives brakes and steers just fine. It was not neglected or left to rot like many. It was this old man's car he bought new and meant a lot to him and his family. The 74 year old widow selling it created a lot of turmoil within the family especially with the son's who are very upset that dad's car is being sold. However, it was her right to do so. She wanted the garage space and had a an important use for the money. Some complain about the wheels/drag slicks and other race parts on the car. Patrick Glen Nichols and others advised me to leave them on because collectors want an authentic "day 2" drag car and they are hard to find, especially a documented L78 Chevelle. However, the original owner was wise enough to keep many of the original parts that were taken off for race parts. The roll bar is only 3 point tied into seat belt thread under rear seat and the bars do not go through the floor or to the frame and there was no welding. It can be removed in about 1 hour. I was given the factory radio, heater controls and cables, and factory rear seats. I could put this car back to looking near totally stock within a couple days. Just not sure I should do that at this point. Engines is authentic L78 with General Kinetic roller rocker arms (the brand of the rocker arms in itself should tell you something about this cars authenticity) and even retains the original OJ code Harrision radiator which is about a $2000 radiator. Dale Mcintosh sent the radiator tag and tank codes off to one of the top Chevelle radiator experts in the country and then emailed me back that the radiator was used for ONLY L78 solid lifter motor, and only installed for manual 4 speed cars. The affidavit swears the 12 bolt rear axle is original and it's casting date is February 1968-it is factory posi of course. This is an 03C car on the trim tag. So, I know many of you want the car to be fake or enjoy picking at cars like this to try to discredit them because it make you feel big--feel big like you are an expert Mr. Chevelle Police but this car is again "THE REAL DEAL". Updated photos can be viewed on ebay at facebook will not allow me to edit the listing. Says they are having problems and try back later.
