1979 Chevy C10 121,000 miles This truck has been in the family for the since 1989, and won many local/regional car shows through the 90s. It was repainted to its current paint scheme in the early 1990s and received a rebuilt 350 SBC at the same time. There is very little rust on the truck, and the body is in very good shape. The sheet metal is original, with the exception of the tailgate, and very straight. Both doors do have the typical squarebody sag from worn out door hinge bushings. Other than that, the exterior of the truck is in excellent shape. The sidepipes are NOT functional. The truck was optioned with the Big 10 package and has a TH350 trans, 12 bolt rear axle, and 1.25” HD front disc brakes. The truck also has Z84 Cheyenne Equipment and Z82 Trailering Special packages. The truck has been kept inside for all its life, and has been in long term storage for the last 8-9 years. The 350 runs great and was crate motor from the early 90s, but we do not have the original paperwork on it. It appears to be a mild street engine with HEI ignition, iron intake and exhaust manifolds, and GM/OE style Rochester carb. It’s in good running condition and has been in long term indoor storage for the last 10 years, but was started and ran up to operating temperature regularly. The truck has been in long term storage for the past ten years and has the usual fluid leaks that would be expected with an older SBC. Specifically, minor coolant, power steering, and engine oil pan leaks. The power steering pump is also a little noisy. The output shaft seal and transmission pan gasket were replaced this spring. The truck was equipped with factory air conditioning, but it is not functional. All the A/C components are present though. The truck was lowered with adjustable leaf spring shackles and aftermarket front coil springs. The front spindles appear to be original GM pieces and are not aftermarket drop spindles. The passenger side rear brake drum has a tendency to stick occasionally while the truck is backing up, but unsticks pretty quickly when moving forward again. The truck was originally painted Colonial Yellow with Camel colored interior. The repaint was very thorough, and the truck was dissembled for paint. The bumpers, door jambs, dash, footwells, cab bulkhead, underside of hood, and engine bay were all repainted. The fiberglass ground effects were also installed at this time, along removable rear fender skirts, and nonfunctional side pipes. It sits on 15x9 American Racing wheels with P255/60R tires. The front tires are Cooper Cobra Radial GT’s and were replaced this past spring. The door hinges have the usual squarebody sag from door pin bushings and have rubbed through the paint in the door jamb and the door of the driver’s side. This is shown in the pictures. The dash cover and door panels were removed and repainted black in preparation for an interior refit that did not end up happening. At that time, the crumbling factory headliner was also removed. Remnants of the headliner adhesive are visible in the photos. The seats are from a Chrysler 300M and the power controls are NOT currently wired in. The truck has minimal rust, the only significant area being in the top of driver side wheel opening shown in picture. It is three clusters of bubbling paint. The largest is the approximate size of a nickel. The other bubbles are much smaller but present. There is also some minor surface rust in the collector area of the non functional side pipes. There is some small surface rust in the bed floor of truck. This is mainly isolated around what were mounting holes for toolboxes that were mounted to the bed. |
