The Type 161 was the brain child of automotive designer Howard Darrin as a competitive sports car to the Chevrolet Corvette. Its famous styling cues had never been seen before and its hideaway sliding doors became novelty among enthusiasts. Its initial price-tag of $3,668 was to much for the market and in total, only 435 cars were ever produced.
