These pictures do not show the true quality of this paint job. This car was entered in a car show and was awarded the PPG Best Paint award.Looking for a car project that is easy to complete? Here is your opportunity to build a great car that has already had the hardest part of the project finished. This 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL came from the factory with a 390 and a 4-speed, red on red with the upgraded XL bucket seat interior. I have owned the car for over 25 years, and while it was a nice driver in great condition, I decided to turn it into a show car. As often happens in life, my priorities have changed and it is time for someone else to finish it. The body has a show-car quality paint job and the chassis is nearly finished. The car was completely disassembled and the frame and body were totally media blasted. Frame, front suspension and rear axle welds and edges were ground, body worked smooth and painted gloss black. The suspension was completely rebuilt. 1976 Granada front spindles were used to adapt the 13” front and rear Baer brakes. QA-1 coil over shocks used on the front and QA-1 shocks used on rear with new de-arched leaf springs. I replaced the manual steering gear box with new CPP Classic Performance Products power steering gear box. Sway bar has been upgraded to 1 1/8”. All fuel and brake lines are stainless steel and have been polished. Hand-polished stainless fasteners used throughout. Complete one piece polished 2 1/2" stainless steel H pipe from headers to polished stainless steel Magnaflow mufflers and stainless steel 2 1/2" tail pipes. The body was in great shape to begin with. While we did replace a portion of the passenger side floor, the vast majority of the body was in amazing rust and damage free condition. That made it easier to get the body laser straight. The FORD letters and fender ornaments have been shaved and their mounting holes welded. The inner fenders were modified and smoothed. The battery mount location on the passenger inner fender was cut out and that portion of the passenger inner fender was made to mirror image the driver side. The firewall was cleaned up, smoothed and all holes filled. The radiator core support modified and smoothed. The engine compartment was then painted to match the exterior.A high-quality bed liner material was used on the underside of the body and inner fender wells and gas tank. The body was shot with PPG Super Torque Red by RSM Auto and Marine Service then color sanded and polished to perfection. The sale includes the original 390 and 4-speed. They are original to the car. The engine ran when the car was disassembled, but it did smoke indicating worn valve seals or rings. The transmission shifted well, though it would be wise to refresh it before installation. The original interior including seats, console and instrument panel are all accounted for, as is the glass and all external trim and bumpers. There are many duplicates that have been collected over the years -too many to list. If you are ready to pick up where I left off, contact me. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer.
