CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Thanks to everyone who provided information on this classic mercedes . what we have here is a 1964 Mercedes Benz 220SE . The car has spent its entire existence in California and New Mexico , which explains it's rust free condition .The car has remained within the same family for the last 20 years . it has , for reasons unknown , a reassigned vin number issued by the California DMV . The car holds a clean New Mexico Title holding the reassigned vin number from California I am unsure why it has a assigned new vin number . i can only describe what i know about this car . i have been in contact with the family who previously owned the car for the past 20 years . The surviving family member isn't aware of the reason for the reassigned vin number . considering the age of the car and. the way the Department of motor vehicle operates, it could be for one of a number of reasons .I will say that this is a very complete , solid , and rust free vehicle . The car is currently stored at my mechanics shop. He has inspected the car and determined that all the body panels appear to be original to the car. The motor turns freely , but will require service to make it road worthy . The interior is all original and in pretty good shape , with the exception of the tear on the drivers seat . The headliner is original and sag free . The glass is complete and still holds its proper German stamping . it still has its original paint . There is surface rust on the hood but nothing has penetrated .I believe that the second time around i am better informed and prepared to list this vehicle for sale . i wish i had the money to restore it , but i don't . instead of letting this classic sit for another 20 years , i am placing a low reserve in hopes that someone will restore this classic to its former glory .Please compare this car to the one , with rust issues , that recently sold on eBay for $7,100 and make an offer . Thanks for your time and please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions , which should be minimal , as i feel confident with my description of the 1964 Mercedes . Thanks ! Henry 626 598-2378.
