CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1970 Challenger Pre Production/Show Vehicle You are looking at a very low serial number early build date/pre-production run car possibly built for an Auto Show or to showcase the new for 1970 E Bodies and their available options. This 1970 Dodge Challenger was purchased in Colorado by the current owners in the late 1980?s and has been siting untouched in a barn since. This is a base Challenger but is optioned you the gills and even has SE only options but is not an SE! The cars original 383 2bbl was replaced many years ago with a steel crank (non HP) 440 and the original 727 has been replaced with an A833 4 speed. (Not sure if 18 spline or 23 spline) The engine is locked up and has not been looked into why he overall condition of the drivetrain as a whole. The car wears its original Burnt Orange paint and really shows its overall condition well as it hasn?t had anything done to it since the 1980?s. This car has the usual E Body rust in most of the usual areas but seems to be exceptional in the frame rails and cross members, the floor pans are really decent under the rear seat and above the rear axle. The transmission tunnel has been cut out for the 4 speed. The trunk floor can be saved same with the quarter extensions. The inner fenders, cowl and core support and wheel tubs are in very good shape and would not need to be replaced, all are in very good shape with minimal to no rust. The front fenders are very decent, they are better than most as is this entire car. As is the case for so many vinyl top cars, this Challenger has rust holes around the rear window channel and the Dutchman/filler panel has rust and will need replacing also. Car number M was also from the Colorado area and is still on the road. The Fender Tag is present with the car and reads as follows - E61 - 383 2bbl D32 - 727 FK5 - Dark Burnt Orange Metallic HRK4 - High Price Leather/vinyl 802 - Build Date 08/02/1969 (Very Early) M00242 - ?M?
