1970 El Camino with a 700+ horse power 454 built by Big Al's Toy Box. Here is some of the info on the motor build. It is a four bolt main with 4340 double keyed steel crank. 8.2 to 1 forged pistons. 651/651 comp roller cam and lifters. Double roller timing chain and gears. Polished 325 CC rectangular port aluminum heads, Manley 225-188 stainless steel valves. Weiland polished aluminum intake with stainless hardware. Blower Shop 871 Supercharger with funny car style belt guard. Two Holly 750 boost reference blower carbs. Mallory distributor. The automatic transmission was built by Monster Transmission and Performance. The transmission is a SS24-TH400, and has a 3300-3500 Stall Performance Converter. The transmission was also built with a reverse shift pattern, the shift pattern is P,R,N,1,2,D. There is a lot more to this motor that some of you buyers will know more about than me. The biggest point I want buyers to understand is that this motor was built by a well known professional company. The motor was set up, run & synchronized, and then shipped as a crate motor ready to install, and has less than 5,000 miles on it. This car has been a weekend drive car, and has never been raced. I have copies of most of the build documents from Big Al's Toy Box and Monster Transmission. The original blower pullies have not been changed since the motor was built by Big Al's Toy Box. I was told by Big Al's that this motor could produce a lot more HP if you changed the blower pullies, but I have been very happy just the way it was built.Recently I had the following work completed on the El Camino: New power steering pump, gas tank removed and cleaned with new sending unit installed. New electric fuel pump installed, and both carbs rebuilt and tuned. All A/C hoses and fan belts replaced. A new electric cooling fan was installed on the front of the cooling system. The car has an older paint job, but has been stored inside. The color is Fathom Metallic Blue. This car has two very minor rust spots that I will talk about. One is on the top of the cab, and one is around the lower trim of the back window. Neither are worthy of repair if your ask me. The bed has signs of use, but is mostly covered by the rubber bed mat. This is not a high end show car winner, but it turns heads. Overall the paint has some very minor wear, but as you can tell from the photos, it is a very nice looking car. The interior was professionally redone several years ago, and still looks very nice with no tears or holes. I want the new owner to be as happy with this car as I have been. I will tell you all the things that most sellers will try to avoid telling you. I know this car has all the "SS" logos, and it may very well be a true "SS". With that being said, it originally had a steering column type shifter and somewhere long before me it was converted to a floor shifter. Somebody did a clean job installing an original floor center console shifter. All the gauges work on the dash except the tach and the clock. I am not sure it the tach was simply disconnected and connected to the racing style tach or what. The car has duel exhausts with electric cut outs. I normally run the cut outs wide open, but the passenger side exhaust cut out will not close, and most of the time you have to tap on it with a hammer to free it into the closed position. Like all these old cars, it drips a drop or two of oil from the rear main after a day out on the road. This car starts every time you want to drive it, and it will leave rubber @ 50 mph in drive! ***** This car is available for inspection in Pauline, SC. ********** Buyer is responsible for shipping, I can open trailer transport for a fee within 200 miles ********** Car must be paid for in IN FULL before it is moved from my property ********** Sold as is with no warranty (sorry, legally I must say this) ********** If you have questions, please ask them before you bid ***** |
