1968 CORVETTE CONVERTIBLE WITH A REMOVABLE HARD TOP 4 spd Big BlockI am sure the question will come up, was this an original Big block car. My best answer is I don’t know, we did pull the gas tank (needed replacing and looking for tank sticker ) the tank sticker was not there, other indicators are the 6000 rpm red line on the Tach and 7 leaf rear spring the spring could have been changed over the years Dash looks intact. So based on the above it could have been a Big Block or a high horsepower Small Block?So here is What the car is I will start with drive train. 396 Big Block casting number 3902406 indicating a 67 engine (same engine they put in Camaro I was told by previous owner the motor was rebuilt before they bought it, it runs well with no fluid leaks. Comes with headers aluminum intake and holly carb. It has a nice cam Lope when idling, and will throw you back in the seat when you stomp the gas also barks the tires shifting int0 second and third, No exhaust smoke or funny motor noises . It went to the shop to be checked out before listing , New plugs, plug wires and points were installed .. all fluids were check and toped off no other issues were reported. Calipers were rebuilt with Stainless Steel inserts and new pads installed.A new factory style radiator was installed along with a new fan shroud 4 speed Muncie manual transmission that shifts wellwith no noises in any gear. Diff I believe is a 336 posi, checking the numbersThe paint is very respectable I would call it a 10 footer ithas the L88 Hood, both hard top and white softtop, paint is about 10 years and holding up well, minor chips somescratches. Somewhere in its 52 years of life the front clip was changed to a 1970-72 (the 70’s were the years of custom body work and making your car your own) whoever did the installation did a GREAT job everything fits well and looks good, I did not see any rust under the car it has a VERY clean frame . Its not a garage Queen it’s a custom daily Driver if you want it to be and it turns heads going down the road, the exhaust gives it a nice rumbleBLACK INTERIOR New door panels & Seats . carpet and dashes are in very good condition, I did not see any cracks in the dash,, the center shift console has a couple small cracks in it other than that I dont see any other issues with the interior. Speedo tach and gauges work, speedo has the Speed warning buzzer installed and it WORKS!!Wheels are original GM rally wheels, AZ 15x 8 with radial TA Tires with good tread so at the end of the day It is nice driver with Comfort and performance up grades.I have done my best to fully describe the car to the best of my ability I have been in the Corvette business for over 35 years I have a huge parts warehouse so if you don’t like what you see , we can change it and work it into the deal if you wish.
