CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
This 1972 Porsche 911S Targa is said to have previously resided in California and was acquired by the previous owner out of Georgia in 2016. The car is finished in black over a black interior, and power is provided by a 2.4L flat-six equipped with mechanical fuel injection and mated to a five-speed manual transaxle. Additional features include Recaro-style sport seats, a small diameter sport steering wheel, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM radio. This 911S Targa is now offered on behalf of the current owner in Los Angeles with factory books and manuals, service records, removed spare parts, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean North Carolina title. The car is finished in black with a brushed stainless targa bar, and the seller notes a repaint was performed during prior ownership. Factory bumpers and Bosch H1 headlights with chrome headlight rings are equipped, and close-up photos of the trim, finish, and targa bar are included in the image gallery.Michelin Harmony tires measuring 195/65 are mounted on 15″ Fuchs wheels, and the full-size spare wears a Kumho tire. Factory 911S equipment included front and rear anti-sway bars, and the ride height of this example has been lowered. The front calipers for the four-wheel disc brakes were rebuilt in 2014. A spare Fuchs 15x 6″ was refinished by Weidman's Wheels and is included in the sale.Inside, a pair of Recaro-style perforated leather sport seats have been installed, and other alterations include a 380mm Porsche steering wheel and a replacement carpet kit. A replacement Blaupunkt AM/FM radio is also fitted in the factory location. The removed seats, steering wheel, and a set of Coco mats are included in the sale.Stock VDO instrumentation includes a central 8k-rpm tachometer and a 150-mph speedometer. The five-digit odometer reads approximately 4k miles and is believed to have rolled over once.Power is provided by a correct type 911/53 2.4L flat-six equipped with mechanical fuel injection, and drive is sent to the rear wheels via a Type 915 five-speed manual transaxle. A top-end rebuild was performed by Franz Blam Racing in April 2012, and more recent work in 2018 included a syncing and adjustment of the injection system, as well as the replacement of the hand throttle, heater cables, heater flappers, and more as shown in the provided invoices. The engine serial can be seen in the gallery and matches the number listed on the Porsche CoA, though the seller points out that it appears to have been restamped. The front suspension pan was reportedly replaced by a prior owner, and corrosion is noted on some suspension parts. Per the seller, an oil cooler was added in 2014, the exhaust was installed in 2018, and two Sonnenschein A512/40A replacement batteries were fitted in May 2020. Additional photos in the gallery highlight the underside and mechanicals. The Porsche Certificate of Authenticity displays the factory colors, options, and powertrain numbers.
