Up for sale is a rarity in the Corvair world! Here we have one of the last Corvair's to roll off the Willow Run assembly line in the spring of 1969. Not only that but it's one of just 521 convertibles built for the final year of the Corvair, 1969. Here we have car number 5575 of the total production of 6000 cars. We can only assume that this one of the very last convertibles built. If you don't know the sorted story of the final cars produced, look it up. It's quite historical. This particular car has accumulated just 36,000 miles since new. Prior ownership shows at least three owners. By the numbers, this car emerged from the factory in Dover White. As it was told by a previous owner, in order to move the now orphaned Corvair off the lot, the original selling dealer agreed to paint it Garnet Red for a buyer that requested a red convertible. The story makes sense to me considering how dealers were sometimes at a loss when it came time to sell a Corvair by 1969. We just have no documentation to back that up. The car does retain it's original owners manual and Protect-O-Plate. Powered by a numbers matching, optional 110HP six and the ever popular Powerglide automatic transmission, this is the powertrain of choice for a daily driver. One that all members of the family can easily adapt to. Late model Corvairs are incredibly good handling cars and for years sorely underappreciated. Thanks to publications such as Hemming and owers like Jay Leno, they are really coming into their own and values are slowly rising, especially 65-69 convertibles. Buying a good one today is surely an investment into tomorrow. Plus, you'll be the only one at the cruise night, taking all the attention away from the guy that just spent $50K on his Corvette. Be prepared. This particular car underwent a complete mechanical overhaul about three years ago. Literally 20 pages of receipts that will accompany the car. Everything from the fuel system, including tank and lines, the brakes, carbs to the electrical harnesses were replaced for safe daily driving. This car has been driven regularly during the good weather with no issues. It's currently registered, inspected and insured. Mechanically and otherwise, the car is ready. Also, there is a BRAND NEW TOP, rear window and storage well. As well as a brand new boot to top it off. The paint on the car is not that from 1969. The red was resprayed at some point and it was a VERY well done job. Zero chips, hazing or oxidation. It looks as if it were sprayed yesterday. That being said, there is a very small dent on the right 1/4 panel and some extremely minor bubbling at the lower left fender. Also, a small area of surface rust on the front portion of the right rocker panel. Otherwise, this car shows it's owners pride and low mileage. The undercarriage has been detailed, never repaired and looks amazing. I will try to show all that I have mentioned in the pics. If you have specific questions or pic request, let me know. I am selling this vehicle on behalf of a good friend. I do have the vehicle in my possession for questions that may be asked. Also, I can easily arrange transportation to anywhere in the world. A $500 deposit is due within 24 hrs of the offers acceptance and bidders must have prior, positive feedback in order for your offer to be accepted. If you are new to Ebay, that's fine, just message me before bidding. The car is located just south of Boston and can easily be viewed at your convenience and is encouraged. Thank you and good luck.
