I bought this vehicle approx. 5 years ago and in the last 3 years I have performed a lot of maintenance. I replaced: Edelbrock 4 bbl carburetor, installed new head, intake man. and timing chain cover gaskets. Additionally replaced: water pump, fuel pump (manual), power steering reservoir, starter, alternator, belts, harmonic balancer, valve covers and gaskets, exhaust header gaskets, fuel filter, air cleaner and cover, poly fuel tank in the OEM design, front markers, rear taillights, rear 'bumprettes', LandCruiser side and front grill badges, tires BF Goodrich 35x12.5x15 TA Mud, front shocks SkyJacker Hydro 2000's and steering damper, front calipers, rotors, pads and soft lines, rear brake drums, shoes, wheel cylinders master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, front wheel bearings and Warn locking hub gaskets, serviced the axels and warn locking hubs. The transfer case was professionally replaced with a new (re-manufactured) unit...I have the receipt. The hard top is in fair condition. The windows and rubber is all in-tact. The fiberglass top cap was modified with a sunroof, but the glass was missing when I bought it, and I never replaced it. I cut a piece of fiberglass to close the opening and sealed it with silicone until a restoration or sunroof replacement can take place. I don't know many of the engine specifics other than the odometer mileage listed above. I never wired the gas gauge, temperature gauge or odometer, but I estimate that I added around 10,000 miles to the 64,819. The previous owner said that the top half of the engine came from a Corvette. If this is accurate, then judging by the sterling wheel, I would guess that it was circa mid-80's. The block from what i could tell from locating and researching the serial was from the 70’s. I'm guessing that the last time that it was painted was in the mid-80's to mid-90's, when the original engine rebuild and other modifications likely took place. It has the original tub and body panels so there's some deterioration there, as is to be expected with a 46 year old panels. The rear jump seats are the extra wide variety and there is a single lap belt installed on one of them, and another identical one will be included if you should chose to install it. The front seats are poly buckets with some pretty cool old school latch-style lap belts. I also will also include (2) grey LandCruiser-brand 1/2 soft doors (no window portion). This Cruiser is primarily geared and built for off-road, but it drives great around town. I actually never took it off-road and used hand signals while driving it on roads because with the exceptions of the headlights with a foot switch bright dimmer, and front and rear marker tail lights, nothing else is wired. Top speed is about 65 mph, but she likes to cruise comfortably in 4th gear between 50-55 mph. Hopefully, I have provided most of the important details that I would want to know as a potential buyer. I'm positive that whoever takes ownership of 'The Red Dragon' will appreciate how special she is, and enjoy her as much as I have. I am selling the vehicle As-Is, and the lucky buyer will responsible for pick-up, or shipping. Of course I will assist in ensuring that the vehicle and spare keys are picked up by whoever the buyer chooses for shipping. On a side note: I have done my best to describe my FJ honestly and accurately. This is obviously not a fully restored, all-original FJ-40 because as any enthusiast knows, a fully restored FJ40 costs between $35k and $60k. Please don't bid on my vehicle unless you really want it and intend to pay for your purchase. it is a badass daily driver that's worth a lot more than I am asking for it, as the lucky buyer will see. Thanks! VIN: FJ4016877 |
