In 1970 there were a mere 1,919 GTOs produced with the legendary L75 455 cubic-inch and M21 manual transmission combinations, however only 8% (158) were convertibles and most certainly considerably less in this stunning color mixture of Burgundy over Black. To handle the monstrous 500 foot/pounds of torque the 455 produces the 1970 GTO is equipped with the heavy-duty Muncie M21 4-speed manual transmission as well as a 3.25-diameter steel drive shaft. Drivetrain strengthening did not end with the transmission and driveshaft when it came to the 455 HO GTOs. This engine option got special treatment once again with the installation of a Canadian-built C-type 12-bolt rear with am 8.875 inch-diameter ring gear.
