HI I AM RELUCTANTLY SELLING MY 1962 STUDEBAKER HAWK GT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN NEWLY RESTORED AND I HAVE NOT SEE ONE ON THE MARKET DONE TO THIS LEVEL IN A LONG TIME. I HAVE HAD MORE FUN RESTORING IT THEN I WOULD HAVE OWNING IT. THIS IS BY FAR THE NICEST HAWK I HAVE EVER OWNED; AND I HAVE HAD MANY IN THE PAST 62 YEARS. I AM AN AVID STUDEBAKER PERSON BUT LIMITED PRIMARILY TO AVANTI'S AND HAWKS. THIS CAR HAS ITS ORIGINAL 8CYL ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED A YEAR AGO AND COMPLETLY REBUILT BY MURPHY'S AUTO CARE AND RESTORATION IN NEW JERSEY. THE ENGINE OBVIOUSLY STARTS RIGHT UP AND PURRS LIKE A KITTEN. THERE ARE NO UNUSUAL NOISES AT ALL. THE CAR PULLS GREAT. IT RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL 2 BARREL CARB, AS WELL. THE TRANSMISSION I BELIEVE WAS NEVER REBUILT BUT I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT AND IT SHIFES GREAT. I REPLACED THE GAS TANK, GAS LINES AND THE FILTER. I SENT THE RADIATOR TO BURTON RADIATOR IN SOMERDALE NJ AND THERE THEY RECORED IT. THIS CAR HAS ITS FACTORY INSTALLED POWER STEERING. IT WAS ALSO BUILT WITH TT (TWIN TRACTION).I BOUGHT THE CAR 2 YEARS AGO FROM THE SON OF THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO HAD PASSED. THE CAR WAS NOT BUILT WITH POWER BRAKES, SO HE SENT THE CAR TO STUDEBAKER INTER'LL IN INDIANA AND HAD POWER BRAKES PUT IN THE CAR TO ORIGINAL OEM. IT IS ORIGINAL OLD STOCK. LOOK AT ENGINE COMPARTMENT PICTURES TO SEE. I CANT IMAGINE WHAT THAT HAD COST HIM. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE ENTIRE EXHAUST WAS NEW AND DONE IN STAINLESS FROM FRONT TO BACK. ALL THE FRONT END BUSHINGS AND MOST OF THE SUSPENSION PARTS WERE NEW. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR IT HAD WHAT APPEARED TO BE NEW WHEELS. BUT HIS SON TOLD ME HIS FATHER HAD SENT THEM OUT SOMEWHERE AND HAD THEM SAND BLASTED, STRIPPED AND PAINTED PROFESSIONALLY AND THEY ARE GREAT. THE TIRES ARE BRAND NEW. I TOOK THE BLUE PROTECTANT COATING OFF THE WHITE WALLS RECENTLY. THEY ARE PERIOD CORRECT FIRESTONE DELUXE CHAMPION WIDE WHITES. HE HAD BEEN ON A MISSION TO FIND OUTSTANDING HUB CAPS AS A MATTER OF FACT THEY WERE WRAPPED IN BUBBLE WRAP. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR ALL THE METAL WORK HAD BEEN DONE WHICH I WILL EXPLAIN LATER. THE CAR WAS IN PRIMER. THERE WAS NOT A DROP OF RUST ON THE CAR AND NOT A DROP OF BONDO. I TOOK IT TO MY PAINT SHOP AND THOUGHT I HAD SOMETHING SPECIAL. THEY WENT THROUGH IT AND CALLED ME BACK AND SAID I WAS RIGHT. NO BONDO AND NO HIDDEN RUST; NOT A DROP. I HAD THEM PAINT THE CAR TO A VERY HIGH STANDARD 3 MONTHS AGO AND ITS NOTHING SHORT OF MAGNIFICENT. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR ALL THE GLASS, RUBBER, STAINLESS AND CHROME HAD BEEN REMOVED, SO THERE IS NOT A DROP OF OVERSPRAY AND THEY WERE ABLE TO CONCENTRATE ON PAINT QUALITY. WHILE THE CAR WAS IN THE PAINT SHOP I WENT THROUGH EVERY PIECE OF CHROME AND STAINLESS. THE BUMPERS FRONT AND BACK WERE WRAPPED UP IN BUBBLE WRAP AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY WERE ALREADY REPLATED TO SHOW QUALITY. THEY ARE BEYOND PERFECT. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE FRONT BUMPERETTES AND HEAD LITE BEZELS WERE REPLATED AS WELL AND THEY WERE ALSO DONE IN SHOW QUALITY. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS I REPLACED SOME OF IT AND WHAT EVER I COULD NOT FIND I SENT TO FRANKFORD PLATING IN PHILADELPHIA, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE CHROME WHEEL LIP MOLDINGS AND THE 3 CHROME PIECES BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS. PLEASE NOTE I DID NOT HAVE THE FRONT GRILL REPLATED AND IF I WAS GOING TO KEEP THE CAR I WOULD DO IT. ALL THE EMBLEMS HAVE BEEN REPLACE WITH NEW OLD STOCK AND THEY ARE BRAND NEW. THE TAIL LITES AND REVERSE LITES ARE BRAND NEW AS WELL. ANY SMALL PEICES THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED WE REMOVED WHEN PAINTED AND HAND POLISHED. LOOK CLOSE AT THE EXHAUST TIPS THEY ARE MAGNIFICENT AND ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET BUT I DID AND THEY ARE ALSO NEW OLD STOCK. WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR THE ENTIRE INTERIOR KIT FROM SOUTHEAST STUDEBAKER WHO PRODUCE REPRODUCTION STUDEBAKER UPOLSTERY WAS SITTING NEXT TO THE CAR IN BOXES. HIS FATHER HAD PLANNED TO HAVE IT COMPLETLY REPLACED. I SENT THE CAR AFTER PAINT TO SMITTYS UPOLSTREY IN WESTVILLE NJ. THE ENTIRE INTERIOR WAS REPLACED 2 MONTHS AGO. THE SEATS,DOOR PANELS (FRONT AND BACK), KICK PANELS, DASH PAD, CONSOLE,COMPLETE CARPET AND THE ENTIRE HEADLINER. THE SEAT BACKS INCLUDING THE ASH TRAYS ARE REDONE AND PERFECT. THE REAR DECK HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED. ANYONE WHO IS FAMILILAR WITH THIS CAR IS AWARE OF THE AMONT OT STAINLESS INSIDE THE CAR. MOST OF IT HAS ALSO BEEN REPLACED INCLUDING THE DOOR PULLS AND WINDOW CRANKS. ANYTHING THAT COULD NOT BE FOUND WAS REMOVED AND HAND POLISHED , INCLUDING THE HEADLINER BOWS AND ITS ALL OUTSTANDING. WHEN YOU SIT IN THE CAR IT SMELLS BRAND NEW. ALL THE GAGES WORK AS THEY SHOULD. INCLUDING THE GAS GAGE. ALL THE LIGHTS WORK AS WELL. THE ORIGINAL RADIO IS IN THE CAR AND IT WORKS SOMETIMES. NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE UNDERSIDE TO SHOW THAT THIS CAR IS 100% RUST FREE. THE FATHER WAS BUILDING THIS CAR FROM THE BOTTOM UP. THE FRAME WAS SAND BLASTED AND POWDER COATED. THE FLOOR PANS, ROCKER PANELS, WHEEL WELLS, HOG TROUGHS, AND TRUNK PAN WERE REPLACED WITH NEW OEM STOCK. THE UNDERSIDE IS MAGNIFICENT. THERE HAS BEEN TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT ON THIS CAR. THIS IS A REAL COLLECTOR CALIBER CAR. I HAVE SEEN MANY OF THEM ADVERTISED AND NONE ARE OF THIS QUALITY. PLEASE BID TO WIN.
