To start with, let me first say that I understand that there is a lot of information in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information. As to myself, I am a (70) year old kid that loves muscle cars. For my work, I am retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only because of the value of this car and so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Many of my transactions have been muscle cars, which I have sold to individuals all over the country as well as Canada, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Australia and the Netherlands. My reputation for honesty is well known amongst muscle car lovers. Some Brief History on the 1977 Corvette Stingray: A significant milestone coinciding with the arrival of the 1977 Corvette happened in a year that was full of impressive milestones. On May 25, 1977, the film world would be changed forever as audiences were transported to a “galaxy far, far away” in George Lucas’s outer space epic, “.” Just four days later, race car driver A.J. Foyt would become the first driver to win the Indianapolis 500 four times. The would officially begin its rise to global fortune and fame while the Commodore company introduced the world to its first personal, all-in-one computer, the “Commodore PET”. For , however, the 1977 model year marked a significant manufacturing milestone – the production of their 500,000th Corvette. It had taken Chevrolet 15 years to build the first 250,000 Corvettes, but only an additional eight years to build 250,000 more. While the 250,000th Corvette had been a Riverside Gold convertible that had been built on November 7, , the 500,000th Corvette was a white coupe, which was driven off the production line by (then) Chevrolet General Manager, Robert Lund on March 15, 1977. Ironically, the Corvette had nearly been pulled from Chevrolet’s lineup in those early years of its production, despite the prosperous post-war economy of America in the mid-1950’s. Adding to the irony was the fact that the Corvette had actually flourished throughout difficult economic times, even in periods when rival automotive manufacturers were pulling the performance-car models from their ranks. While it was true that the Corvette’s performance had certainly dwindled – especially over the past couple of years, to a modest shadow of its big-block older brothers from the 1960’s, there was no question that the car’s appeal had only grown with each passing year. The 1977 Corvette arrived with only a few, modest modifications from its previous year. Outwardly, the car was virtually identical to the model, save for the introduction of a reworked luggage and roof panel rack (RPO V54) that could be used to transport the car’s (instead of placing them in the Corvette’s lidless trunk.) The changes to the interior were equally subtle, though there were a few more modifications worth noting. First, the interior center radio console was redesigned to accept a broader array of audio decks (including an AM/FM/cassette stereo as a first-time option). The 1977 Corvette set another new sales record at 49,213 units. The popularity of the Corvette throughout the 1970’s was proven time and again by the year over year increase in sales numbers despite the dramatic increases in cost. Now for your consideration is my good friend’s 1977 Corvette Stingray. I don’t know what to say about this Corvette other than it is a wicked good deal. Today’s “good value” according to Hagerty is $8,600. Add $1,000 for A/C, $750 for tilt/telescopic steering and $200 for Power Windows. It also says to deduct $688 for Automatic Transmission. However, remember that at some point, a previous owner converted this Corvette to a 4-Speed. Just a great buy in today’s market. I have lots of photos and a video for interested buyers. Just ask for the links. Please note, in the video there is a whirring sound you can hear when I show the engine compartment. There are areas of chips, nicks and scratches but overall the paint should be considered to be in good driver quality. The T-tops are good and do not rattle or leak to my knowledge. Doors open and close fine. Rims, tires and trim rings are very good. Interior: The interior is in need of attention as you can see in the photos and video. Gauges appear to be working correctly. Radio and horn are not working. Power windows need attention along with other electrical connections. Engine: The original engine starts and runs fine. The intake manifold, exhaust manifolds and alternator appear to be original. Transmission: The original automatic transmission has been replaced with what I believe is a 1965-67 Muncie 4-speed setup that appears to work correctly. Undercarriage: The undercarriage is good condition and appears to be free from any major signs of rust or rot. Look at the undercarriage photos which will display the undercarriage condition better than any description that I can conger up. WINNING BIDDER DOES NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO LOOK THIS CAR OVER AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THEY WANT TO BUY. INSPECTIONS "MUST" BE DONE PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. Terms of Sale: This car is sold “as-is/where is” with absolutely no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied. The information I have given is what I believe to be true, but since I haven’t owned this particular vehicle since it was new, I do not guarantee any of the information to be 100% accurate. FYI: There is no Maine title for this 1977 Corvette Stingray as Maine does not issue titles for vehicles that are more than (15) years old.
