1973 Westfalia Camper in great condition! It's time for me to part with my favorite toy (aka The Magic Bus) that's been in my family for 12 years, garage kept to a non-smoking family. My son actually fit inside the side closet when we first got the bus in 2008 and slept on the children's hammock that mounts on the factory brackets over the two front seats. The bus is in tremendous condition for a 47 year old vehicle and if you know these vehicles, you will see what I mean by reviewing the pictures.Starting with the engine which has an odometer reading of 26,687 miles, which most likely means 126,687 miles for a 47 year old vehicle. The troublesome fuel injection system was removed by the previous owner (a mechanic) and a trouble free easy to maintain carburetor system was installed. It gets decent gas mileage being a 4 cylinder and is very low maintenance because the engine is air-cooled. We have traveled more than 500 miles on some of our camping trips with no problems. All of the maintenance that has been preformed was completed by a certified VW garage mechanic. Battery is one year old. Upgrades to the vehicle have been incorporated over the years so not all are original parts. The children's hammock, rear hatch screen and German front mat are all original parts and are in excellent condition. The Westfalia Poptop shows no wear and is one of the newer replacements. Steel belted redial tires show little wear and are in great condition.Complementary tan leather like upholstery was upgraded throughout the vehicle including side door panels and front under dash panel. Curtains and side panel window cover are custom made. Interior and exterior paint is good with no visible signs of rust or pitting. Red and white are not the original colors of the bus, original was orange and white. This Westy includes the following: Side closet, fold down table, ice box (great for dry ice cooling) under the sink (has a water bladder I never used), fold down rear seat that conforms into a double bed (big enough for two average size adults) spare tire with hard cover, Premier Pioneer radio/single CD player/USB for iPod with door panel speakers, overhead, side panel and under seat storage compartments. Other extras include: Official VW tool kit with tools, fuses, hose clamps, new vehicle tire jack, Dyna-Force 14'' folding lug wrench. VW tool bag, Volkswagen Campmobile manual (reproduced), Campmobile Interior Workshop manual, curtain plans/directions, Haynes VW 1700/1800/2000 Transporter Automotive Repair Manual 1972 thru 1979.If you have been shopping for a Westy you know that these have become wonderful investments, let's face it, there are only so many of them remaining, especially in the condition of this one. We've made wonderful memories camping in this bus over the past 12 years, now it's your family's turn. Please ask me any questions you may have about this auction. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Please note this camper is being sold as is and I have provided to the best of my ability the true condition of the vehicle. |
