CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
I recently acquired this 1971 Mercury Comet GT from the daughter of the original owner. In the same family for 50 years! This is a totally unmolested factory F code (302) GT Comet that is a SURVIVOR CAR. Other than buffing the original, badly oxidized paint, rattle can paint job of the GT hood scoop( it was badly faded), and a general clean up, this is exactly how I found it. This is a western car from southeastern CO that is very very solid with only a tiny bit of rust through in both of the lower quarters behind the rear wheels. I would say it is 98% rust free. When cleaning the car I found old towels stuffed down in the quarter drops( I really don't understand why people do this!). That's it, the rest of the car is ROCK solid!Everything is original on the car including the exhaust which needs replacing. Previous owner had a tune up done and flushed the fluids and was occasionally driving the car to town and back. It starts instantly and purrs like a kitten. It does stumble a bit under acceleration when it is cold. Car is tight as it was when new with tight steering, no rattles. This is a low option factory V-8 GT with manual steering and brakes and drives straight down the road with ease. The interior like the rest of the car is original and is in very good overall condition. It does have a couple of splits at the seams in the front buckets and the headliner has separated at one of the seams. All of the plastic interior panels are in excellent condition. The dash pad has a couple of cracks that can be seen in the pics. I think the pictures will tell the story but if you have any questions please message me through eBay and I will get back to you promptly. The car is in TX (Houston suburbs). Title is clear and in the name of the previous owner signed over ready for transfer. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. Good luck and feel free to ask questions.
