CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Collectors Dream = 1965 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. This car has been in the same family since 1976.My father bought it when GM announced they were no longer going to make convertibles. He had it painted in 76 and drove it a couple of years and then it sat covered up in a garage until 1993 when he gave it to me. I drove it off and on until 2001 when the fuel line from the gas tank to the carb got clogged up. The car has sat under a cover since then in a garage. The car has a clear Virginia title, but is now located in Custer, South Dakota. I put a new battery in it and replaced the fuel lines and the car started right up. SO HERE IS THE GOOD: The motor sounds good and has no knocks or noises. The transmission works just fine and shifts smoothly through its gears. All the power windows work, including the vent windows. The power top works, but the switch will need to be replaced. The power seat works. The brakes feel ok, but probably need to be bleed. The glass all looks good and it has a glass back window instead of plastic. There is NO RUST that I can see. I put pictures on here of the underneath and do not see any rust. The car has spent the past 40 some years in dry storage. The leather is fair to good shape. There are no cracks on the dash board or steering wheel. The chrome is in good shape and just needs a good polish. Everything on the car is there even though they might not work like the air conditions, the air ride system, the cruise control, etc. SO HERE IS THE BAD: the paint is faded, it may buff out and look ok for a driver/survivor, but it needs a paint job. There is a dent on the passenger side fender you can see in the pics. The paint is cracking on the driver’s side. The back seat is perfect but the front seat will need some conditioning and may need to be replaced depending on how nice you want the car. The clear plastic coating is coming off the wood on the door panels, but the rest of the panels looks perfect. (it is real wood by the way, thought that was cool) The wonderbar radio is there, used to work, but is notworking right now (the power antenna is working). The tires were bought in 1993and have flat spots now, so they need to be replaced. The brakes work, but I think they need a little bleeding and fluid to be perfect. The exhaust manifold gasket on the passenger side needs to be replaced = exhaust leak. The radiator was replaced 20 some years ago, but has some pin holes in it from sitting so long. The water pumps squeaks, but I do have a brand new one to go with the car. The car basically needs someone to spend a couple weekends tinkering with it to really get it back on the road. I have been driving the car around my neighborhood and it seems that every time I drive it, it runs better. So, overall, it is a good solid car to either restore or just get back to being a driver quality Caddy.Location: Custer, South Dakota 57730
