This 1969 Pontiac Catalina is a sharp looking cruiser with generous proportions and a smooth ride. Based on GM’s B-body platform (same as the Impala), this Pontiac appealed to a different buyer than the GTO or Firebird crowd. It is the proverbial land yacht that has plenty of space and just floats down the road.This Catalina stayed with its last owners for nearly 40 years. It wears an older repaint in its original Matador Red along with body side moldings and rocker trim. There is a newer black power top that works well. The underside is in good condition and appears solid throughout, while the body is straight with good panel gaps. Note the endura nose has been replaced with a fiberglass piece.The motor is Pontiac’s well-regarded 400 cubic inch setup. This is a factory YD-code with 46 heads and rated at 290hp. The transmission is the durable TH400 automatic. This Catalina also has power steering and power front disc brakes, both must-haves for a car of this size.
