Numbers-matching Super 90 Coupe with Maestro-Massaged engine rebuild. One of the first T-6 bodied Super 90s built. Originally delivered to Reykjavik via Glockler. Perhaps one of the first Porsches ever delivered to Iceland. The Super 90 was the most powerful pushrod engine one could buy in 1962, boasting 50% more horsepower than the 60hp Normal engine.Various records dating back to the 1970s. The car spent a good portion of its life in the Southwest USA, before residing in Maryland. This Super 90 has been in our family since 1998 and we have put about 2,000 miles on it since then. We have known the car since the early 1990s, and even drove it with the prior owner from New Mexico to the 1991 356 Registry Holiday in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The engine was rebuilt by Harry Pellow, aka "The Maestro" in the late 1980s and runs strong with roughly 30,000 miles on the rebuild. If you're not familiar with the "Maestro", he passed in 2003 but wrote several books on 356 engines and to this day is still considered one of the best pushrod 356 engine builders ever. His books are a must-read for any 356 owner! In 2011 we installed disc brakes (Zims conversion) on the front. However, a set of front drums is included, which I would recommend re-installing. In 2015, a new gas tank was installed and the Dellorto carbs were rebuilt. As the video shows, the tach doesn't work. The car makes a nice appearance from afar, but has blemishes up close. Originally red, it was painted silver in the 1990s and the paint is cracking in some areas. Also, the rear deck lid was replaced but I have the original. (The deck was replaced after the car suffered a carburetor fire with the prior owner in the late 1990s, which peeled the paint on the decklid. Additionally, the Weber carbs were replaced with Dellortos.)The pans and longitudinals are solid. The battery box was repaired using non-factory stamped sheet metal. The wheels have pits on the chrome and the tires are old.A luggage rack is included along with an original steering wheel, should you decide to swap out the Nardi. Here is a link to a video taken a few weeks ago, which shows the car in motion:https://www.dropbox.com/s/cvz4r1jx0euqfs0/Final_Super%20Porsche%2090-Apple%20Devices%20HD%20%28Best%20Quality%29.m4v?dl=0Car is sold "as is". |
