CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Thinning out my collection of convertible Continentals. I purchased this from the original owners estate where it had been in dry storage since 1992. Since then, it has been stored in my climate-controlled garage and is started and moved weekly.Engine:The 430 engine has been treated to a complete tune-up including spark plugs and wires, points, cap, rotor, coil, oil change and filter, and rebuilt carburetor. In addition to the tune-up, a new battery, starter and all high current wiring replaced. As a result, she starts right up and runs smooth. I drained the old fuel out of the tank but opted to temporarily bypass it as to not introduce any sediment into the fuel system. Engine is running off of a plastic fuel tank in the trunk that is included with the sale.Drivetrain:The transmission shifts into all gears assertively. Some wetness around the transmission pan and rear differential. Steering/Suspension/Brakes:The front end feels tight when I had it on the lift. Suspension looks original but serviceable. The brakes received a new master cylinder. The car stops with little effort, but the whole braking system should probably be gone through for safety's sake. Power steering works great but there is a significant leak coming from one of the hoses.Body:The floors, trunk pan and unibody are all original and in excellent shape. There looks to be some filler in the rear quarter and dog legs between the rear wheel well and door on both sides. The trunk lid is badly rusted but replacements are now available aftermarket. The convertible top is in great shape with no rips or tears.Interior:Great original shape. A small tear in the front seat, rear seat is beautiful. Nice dash, serviceable carpet.Electrical:Most systems are serviceable. I have not attempted to operate the top, though the mechanism and electronics look to be untouched - which is always best. Windows are intermittent.Summary & Terms of Sale:This is an original, unrestored 58 year old car that needs restoration and is not road-worthy in its present condition. Please, no offers - my price is firm and the lowest of any running, driving, stopping 1962 Lincoln of any kind in the country. Sold with a transferrable Vermont registration in my name (non-title state) and bill of sale.
