The car boasts it's all original build sheet, floor mats and owner's manuals. This is real deal all American muscle in completely rust free condition and a car which was upgraded from it's original 'X' code 352/220HP V8 engine to this highly desirable and rebuilt 1965 427 FE engine with easily over 450HP with 2x4 BBL carbs and which sounds like a jet taking off and drives absolutely magnificently. The 427 FE engine is mated to a T10 Borg Warner 4 speed manual transmission with a 'Hurst' shifter and a 'Centerforce' clutch and pressure plate with a Big Pulley generator with all the power laid out via a Detroit locker 28 spline Ford 9 inch rear end with 3.50 gears. She has 3 inch big bearing brakes up front. The carbs are correct and have the Green tags on them. This is the same motor run in the Le Mans racing cars of this era and which were built to run at high rpms for hours on end. Basically set up stripped down like a street racing weekend drag car from this era including the track bars and full 3 inch exhaust. All the bushings are in excellent condition and the suspension is super tight. This beast pulls until you have to let off, it will not stop! For 1962, the Galaxie name was applied to all of Ford's full size models, as Fairlane moved to a new intermediate and the Custom model was temporarily retired. The new top-line Galaxie 500 (two-door hardtop, four-door sedan and hardtop and the Sunliner convertible) and the most desirable Galaxie 500/XL (two-door hardtop and convertible) models were also introduced; the 292 cu in (4.8 L) V8 was standard on the 500/XL with optional higher horsepower engines available. The 500XL (named after the 500 mile NASCAR races in which Ford was doing so well) was the first of the big performance Ford's and offered bucket seats and center console, as well as a sportier trim both inside and out. This model was Ford's response to Chevrolet's Super Sport option for the big Impala which was introduced the previous year and consequently saw a significant rise in sales for 1962. For 1963, Ford saw no reason to radically change a good thing, and the 1963 model was essentially unchanged save for some freshening up and added trim; a four-door hardtop 500/XL was added. A lower, sloping fastback roofline was added mid year (1963 1/2) to improve looks and make the big cars more competitive on the NASCAR tracks with the added downforce. This 1963 model, the industry's first official year model, was called the Sports Roof or Fastbackand is the most desirable of the line-up with the Galaxie buyers showing their preference as the new SportsRoof models handily outsold the boxtop square-roof models. The SportsRoof was available in both the Galaxie 500 and Galaxie 500/XL trim. As to be expected, sister brand Mercury also received the SportsRoof in the Monterey, Montclair, and Park Lane models.Finished in it's seemingly mostly all original factory 'Raven Black' color paint which still has great luster and only minor imperfections and with it's seemingly again all original factory 'Red' color vinyl seats, completely original matching Ford carpet interior with original OEM floor mats, dashboard and original wheels with near perfect dog dishes. All the chrome is excellent as are the seals. Looks like it just rolled off the assembly line with it's build sheet intact! This is a very rare mostly all original car which formed the basis of an enthusiasts professional upgrade to the 'R' code 427 code dual quads drag street racing worthy beast with a wink and a nod to the legendary stripped down lightweight cars of the era.The car is reported to have only some 24K original miles on the body, which from the exceptional condition of the mostly all original paint and interior with original OE mats and factory carpet and with the original spare wheel with it's jack is in the trunk and with all the typical rust-prone areas completely solid and rust-free and with no signs of history of any accidents and no bondo - we would find that hard to argue with! This is a rare opportunity to own a fabulous example of Ford's early drag street worthy cars from the early sixties in quite striking and stunning mostly all original condition throughout! An obviously never abused example of an always garaged and accident and rust free 1963 Ford Galaxie 2 door Sedan which was then professionally built by a knowledgeable and skilled enthusiast into this drag or street racing beast whilst still keeping its rare originality! This is one very rare and highly desirable and collectible unabused example of one of the outstanding Ford designs of the sixties, which has high repute for both it's beautiful lines and fast performance. In summary, this is one very hard to duplicate car which would make an ideal addition to any all American muscle car, or especially obviously a Ford, enthusiast's collection!
