This is an original sheet metal hand built super car that is for sale, but not on sale. It started life with me in September 2012 as a 99% original car as I am the 8th documented owner. I desired to build a one of a kind Euro/American supercar, so I hired the renowned car designer Sean Smith. Sean orchestrated the 3D scanning of the vehicle allowing his ideas and precision parts to be fabricated and brought together. The colors, paint and interior materials were selected and the craftsmen chosen to bring it together. This 1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 is now known as Infrared Camaro. It can be found on social media with a build history on Instagram under "Infrared1971".As I stated this build was designed and orchestrated by Sean Smith Designs keeping the timeless heritage and classic design but adding modern American and European touches. The original sheet metal body lines were meticulously sharpened and detailed but again the original sheet metal kept unaltered. The paint and body was done by Leo Vargas and the materials used were BASF/Glasurit. The color is Shakir Orange Metallic exclusive to the BMW M series. It was applied and allowed to set for 3 weeks, color sanded and 3 additional clear coats applied to bring out the depth in the paint and highlight the superb body lines including the integrated rear bumper into the body lines. The billet steel machined door hinges by Ring Brothers snuggly hold the doors while their machined aluminum black hood hinges take car of engine bay accessibility. The custom flush mounted glass both front and back were custom made and installed by Eddie Kotto (glass supplier to Chip Foose). The wheels are HRE forge 3 piece S207H with high gloss black barrels and matte centers shod in Michelin 275/30-19 up front and 345/30-20 out back attached to Baer 14" Extreme 6 piston calipers powder coated in Aztec gold. The car was a full bumper Z28 but now sports twin split bumperettes with the original Z-28 shorter and wider grille opening filled with a "one off" billet aluminum machined grille by EVOD Industries covered in high gloss black powder coat. Sharing the front end are "one off' aluminum machined air scoops that cool the brakes, feed the intake and provide day time running lights and amber turn signals also powder coated in high gloss black. The headlamps are Dapper Lighting 7" HID lights also with amber turn signal halo's. The stance of the car is enhanced by the 2" extended rocker panels all the way around making it appear lower while covering the factory pinch welds and stainless lines feeding the fuel and brake systems. The black stainless machined exhaust tips penetrate the rear lowered valance followed by the 3" stainless steel TIG welded exhaust with X pipe and Helmholtz resonators coated in Burnt Bronze Cerakote. You notice underneath the full road car suspension by Detroit Speed which includes their hydroformed subframe, subframe connectors, JRI coil overs, heavy duty sway bar along with rack and pinion steering. Out back is their full Quadralink suspension system sporting adjustable JRI coil overs, sway bar and GM heavy duty 12 bolt posi unit with 3.90 gears. All brake lines and fuel lines are stainless steel and meticulously routed. You notice the Detroit Speed roll cage beautifully wrapped in leather and catch a glimpse of the entire interior wrapped in Hyde's Lamborghini Nero Perseus leather and Alcantara hinting European design. All interior leather and Alcantara were meticulously selected, cut and sewn in place by the craftsmen at Gabe's Custom Interior. Standing out are the "one off" billet machined steering wheel wrapped in leather, the control center console ring, illuminated GT40 style switches and Porsche influenced gauges set in a one of a kind machined aluminum dash console. You notice the 6 speed aluminum shifter ball center wrapped in matching leather identifying the gear sequence for the heavy duty stage 2 Bowler built Tremec transmission and the dual disc McLeod's hydraulic clutch mated to a billet steel flywheel. You then discover a 454LSX fuel injected power plant generating 600hp and 560ft lbs of torque to the wheels with its custom shaved MSD manifold, Mast Black label heads covered in matte Shakir Orange. The Holley 90mm throttle body, 4" aluminum intake tube, accessory drive components/ systems and exhaust headers are coated in Burnt Bronze Cerakote. All hoses are the high end gold tipped XRP hoses. It now becomes apparent this restomod build is closer to a high end supercar ready to cruise the coast, auto cross, road race or display in your collection. The cost to duplicate this hand built car is far more than the asking price along with the 2 year build time. So what are you waiting for? The detail professional appraisal, additional photographs and documentation is available upon your request. A personal review and test drive can be arranged as well. |
