Datsun Z-Series. this is a nice example of a 240z 1971 but built in 1970 so its the 1st series car. So the car was in storage since 1989 after it broke down. I bought it in 2015 did an engine swap with a rebuilt 280z bottom end and e31 oem 1st series cylinder head and added a new clutch and 5 speed transmission, and then did the rust repair on the dog legs and bottom of the fenders and 4 or 5 spots on the floor pans just small patches, the car was fairly rust free for these early models. Anyhow it was stripped to bare metal and taken mostly apart alot of stainless bolts were installed so the car can be easily dissembled i spent a few years here and there improving the rust prevention by sealing the under side of most panels and cowl area and battery box area also adding new door hatch weatherstripping . the seats are redone with new vinyl and new padding professionally done. the floor pans are sealed up with miracle paint and a topcoat of hammerrite paint for extra protection. the paint is ok i was going to have respray done on the outside because it is original style single stage, but I have to move on and sell now, but a few days work and some minor disassembly of some lights and emblems it could look amazing the body work looks great. the car runs and drives good all of the lights work, but i feel like it can be better with an electronic ignition and some tinkering around , I did a brake job on the front with new calipers, pads, rubber brake hoses, but not the backs. the heater controls are a sticky and are not right. the car has new tires barley any miles . new carpet and new windshield, new front bumper and loads of nice oem parts cleaned and restored, |
