I'm selling my 1971 Dodge Challenger convertible. It has the original 225ci 145hp Slant Six engine with the 904 3 speed automatic transmission. It has the Slap Stik shifter. It is one of 81 Dodge Challenger convertibles made with the Slant Six in 1971. The build date is April of 1971. This Challenger starts, runs, and stops great. It has current Illinois registration and a clean and clear Illinois title in my name. You can drive this car home!I would call this a well preserved survivor car. Prior to my purchase, it was in the same family since 1978. This family bought it from the original owner, so I have traceability back to the original owner! I have a stack of receipts for all the work done, an owner's log book documenting the mileage during their ownership, and the complete maintenance history of the car since 1978.The Challenger has only 93,052 documented original miles and is an original EV2 Hemi Orange car. The majority of the paint is factory original and in great condition with a nice shine. The right side of the car was repainted in 1990 due to some shopping cart damage (I still have the receipt). There are some minor flaws in the paint, including some minor scratches and road rash in the body here and there, but overall the car looks great and has very good body and shut lines. I would call this a very nice survivor quality car. The 225ci slant six runs extremely well, and does not smoke, burn oil, or knock. The motor has excellent oil pressure. It starts easily and idles very smoothly. The motor was pulled awhile ago and freshened with new seals, gaskets, and paint. It looks great. I recently replaced the battery with a new one with a 3 year warranty. The brakes are excellent, and the car stops very well with no pulling. Mechanically the car needs nothing except a driver. The white interior is in great shape with some overall light patina and wear. It seems like most of it is original to the car. The original dash pad has no cracks. The front grille and rear light panel inserts are in awesome condition with no cracks. The seats are in great shape with excellent leather inserts. All the knobs and switches work, including the power top. The white soft top was replaced in 2012, so it is in great shape. Even the original AM radio works great. The frame, especially the floors and the area around the rear frame kickups, is very solid and there is no evidence of accident damage to the frame. There are no visible rust holes in the frame. The trunk floor is factory original and still has the original paint! It's just a super solid original and un-messed with car. this is how you want to find them. The soft top is in great condition with no rips or tears. Known problems: There is a minor rust spot on top of the passenger’s side front fender from where sand was trapped. It’s cosmetic and not structural. The steering box has a little play in it. When it's really cold out, you may need to start the car multiple times since the choke circuit is leaned out for warm weather. You are welcome to inspect the car. It's a very nice car that is not perfect, but will make an excellent driver. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. The car is located in zip code 60091in Illinois. Why am I selling it? I would like to focus on the 1934 Ford pickup I recently bought. That's the only reason. I would entertain partial trades of a 1968 through 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner or Dodge Superbee... You are buying the car as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. It's a 50 year old car, and it's not perfect, so please bid responsibly!A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is due within 48 hours of auction end. The balance is due within 7 days of auction end. I can store the car at no cost for up to thirty days after auction end. |
