CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
SoCal Classic Car Storage in Laguna Hills, CA is pleased to offer this black on black 1965 Lincoln Continental on behalf of one of our clients. Lincolns have been popular for quite some time and finding one can be a challenge. To complicate matters even further, finding an original, unmolested Continental can be a feat in itself. So if you've been searching for a clean, original Continental, take a minute to read about this one.The highlight of this Lincoln is that it's mechanically solid from the motor to the suspension. There is a tremendous amount of value in just the mechanics alone. At a cost of $19,000.00, the current owner had everything ranging from an engine overhaul to the suspension and the brakes entirely rebuilt. The original 430cu.in. motor was professionally rebuilt by Chimera Motors in Huntington Beach California, along with a long list of additional repairs and services with receipts as proof (see photo). Of course with a freshly rebuilt engine, all complimenting components such as the water pump, fuel pump, power steering pump/box, hoses, engine mounts, starter etc. were newly replaced. All of the installed parts were also sand blasted and/or painted accordingly. No corners were cut to save a dollar. Moving on to the brakes and suspension and you'll find new wheel cylinders, brake hoses, brake shoes and hardware, wheel bearings, fairly new tires, shocks, tie rod ends, idler arm, center link, A arm bushings, rear leaf springs, shackle bushings and the list goes on, but you get the point. So last but not least, the transmission and rear differential were serviced and all that by a reputable garage. Time and money was spent to make it road worthy and safe to drive anywhere. Now the attention to this Lincoln didn't stop there because another $3600 was spent to fix all the incidentals such as the speedometer cable, dash lights, gauges, antenna motor, light switches and more. All of this not only adds up to a monetary value but also a value of one's time. Ask yourself how many times you've purchased a used car only to find out you'll be spending days on end addressing these issues and parts that wear over time. As for the body panels and paint finish, the black paint shows well and in my opinion is deserving of a 7 out of 10, 10 being a SEMA quality finish. If chosen to do so, a cut and polish would transform the finish into a solid 8. Most importantly though, the fit and finish is a solid 10. All the panels line up as they did from the factory. The gaps are correct and the top and side panels are straight without any ripples or signs of body filler. All of the exterior stainless trim is intact, without dings or scratches and free from any fitment issues such as missing clips, etc. The chrome bumpers are driver quality and if chosen to, one could have them replated but again, perfectly acceptable as is.The interior is very presentable with a beautifully preserved dash. All the interior chrome trim is free from pitting or discoloration and presents very well. All four door panels along with the wood accent panels are in excellent condition and free from rips or tears. The carpet and seats are in good condition, however, one may choose to have the top side of the seats dyed black again. There is some discoloration as seen in the photos. The car drives, handles and steers perfectly as it should and did from the factory. It starts immediately even on a cold start. It does not pull or drift out of it's lane. It accelerates and brakes perfectly. It idles without overheating. I think you'll agree after driving it that it truly does drive like a brand new 1965 Lincoln. In fact, I guarantee you'll agree with me!Believed to be a three owner car (23,525 miles) with the current owner having possession for nearly 13 years, this Lincoln is turn-key and ready for the next owner. Again, keep in mind how much time and money went into making this car road worthy. If you're already familiar with 60's Lincolns, you'll know that there are a handful of Lincoln-only specialists that make restoring one significantly easier. Names such as John Cashman or Curtis out of Fullerton, CA are go-to people in the Lincoln community. Those mentioned were sought out for most if not all of the knowledge, parts and repairs on this Lincoln. So have peace in mind knowing the parts and repairs were done the right way. At nearly $23,000 spent on the mechanicals, you're getting a suicide Lincoln for around $6k. Not a bad deal......
