CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Volkswagen Karmann Ghia. Looking for a Karmann Ghia project under the tree this year? This one is solid mechanically and ready for interior and bodywork! Purchased as a project car for my son, but he will not have time to complete before leaving for college and has decided to sell.Car is a blast to drive. Runs strong. Has original engine. Most mechanical repairs needed have been completed (and done by pro VW Repair & Restoration with the exception of the Carburetor which we did). Used only OEM wherever possible. Noticed recently that it could use a new belt though and we have not yet ordered/replaced that.We have driven the car regularly around town and on highway. Horn does not work, but I believe new steering wheel/horn assembly would fix that. Car does have an ok aftermarket stereo and speakers that were added by previous owner in original slot (no cutting).Body and paint look ok to the eye, but does need some work. There is a 'crinkle' / dent (see pics) to back left panel/wheel well area that will need some body work. There's some rust through in the front wheel well that will need some welding work. We were going to do all bodywork when we stripped to repaint, but never got to that part of the project. Previous owner had car painted at some point to silver. We believe original color was Enzian Blue which is what we had planned to take it back to. Body pan is solid - no rust through. Interior is decent but will need full restoration, as it is currently all original (minus the aftermarket radio). Floor panels solid, no rust-through. Headliner intact. Carpet good. Door panels a mess. Leather on seats cracked here and there. No cracked or broken windows - all intact. Tires basically new.
