CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
One year only style. The 1978 has the old style front clip with the new style everything else. Since Dodge kept this same basic style until 1993, this is a very easy model to resto-mod. You could easily have the iconic 70's style with a modern functionality. Old Dodge vans are a dime a dozen, but this one is particularly rare because of its hard to find but highly desirable combination of features, which are....It's a shortyIt came from the factory with a V-8It's Un-Cut. Meaning that it has some how survived all these years without some one cutting up the sides and installing huge windows or port holes even. These 3 features combined onto a one year only style is very hard to find. Trust me I know, I searched for this van for a decade. You would think " Seriously ? 10 F'n years for that ?... I had to walk away from so many for a multitude of reasons. The first reason being is that people lie to you. I would drive hundreds of miles to get there and then the seller wants to debate his version of rust and then proceed to educate me on the simplicity of body work. I didn't want a rust bucket. I didn't want to do any major metal work. I was more than willing to pay more for a solid van. I found some solid vans. One was particularly super clean and I was about to buy it, but it didn't have a title. Then the seller proceeded to educate me on the simplicity of getting a title. Another guy had a title but some dead guy had already filled in the area as the buyer, 20 years ago. He too proceeded to educate me on how willing the state employees at the DMV would be to gladly except a list of excuses. UGHH!!! So combine the 3 rare features, into a one year only style, that needs to be mostly rust free with a clear title, under ten grand and this becomes an extremely difficult vehicle to find. The icing on the cake is that is the Street Van edition. So when I found this one. It met all the criteria listed above. It wasn't Nevada Dessert dry, but it wasn't in need of major metal work either. It has had some patch work and the two rear lower corners behind the wheels need some attention as there is bubbling in the paint, but compared to the others I had found, this thing was clean. After 10 years of searching, this was the best I could find under 10 grand that met all my very specific requirements, so I swiped it up, but just as my luck would have it, 3 months later, I found another one, a B-200 with a 360, that also had a host of additional features I liked better and was already built out the way I had planned to do this one, so I bought that one too and now I need to sell this one because I don't need two. This van has a strong running 318 that is a Jasper re-manufactured motor that has about 1,200 miles on it. It's got a mild cam, and goes lope - lope - lope. It's got a new Holley carburetor, headers, and a MSD ignition. It's got a stall converter on the 727 automatic. It runs and drives like you think it would, slow, heavy & loud. I drive it around town. Never took it far, but I wouldn't hesitate to go anywhere in it, but if I was going to take it on a road trip, I would replace the two rear tires and get another clip on the dog box. It's only hanging on by one clip so when you get going fast it wants to rise up and things get real loud and smelly. The dash board is a hack job. Unfortunately, it was like that when I got it but the bright side is, that Dodge kept this same exact dashboard right up to 1997. So finding the missing pieces that the previous owner covered with metal plates, is no problem. The parts are cheap too. The previous owner sealed up the sun roof with sheet metal. So it's gonna need a new sun roof. He also painted the roof with bed liner. No idea why, but that's what is. He did a hand full of things that just make you think.... WTF ???, My guess is that he was intentionally going for a mad max, rat rod theme or just working with whatever materials he had laying around the house. I don't know, but regardless, it's a solid start to building a dream van and resurrecting a 70's icon, and it's road worthy and not a total basket case.I have to say this next part because the government makes me. I had a used car dealership. It's called Dixie Trading Co. located at 6592 Caratoke Hwy. Grandy NC 27939. I still hold my license but I'm closing up shop because I failed miserably at the used car business. First off, I'm brutally honest sometimes to the extent of seeming rude, and although I used to be a people person, people have ruined that for me, now I'm just a grumpy old guy that wants to be left alone. I no longer have the patients for dealing with people so I'm calling it quits. My license doesn't expire until April, so I have until then to sell this van or title it in my own name. Right now it is titled in the dealership name. So if you buy it now, you will be buying it through the dealership. I don't charge any bogus processing fees. I'm not going to DMV for you and all that. I'll give you the title and supporting documents and you're on your way. Everything I said previously about the van is my personal opinion and is not a warranty. This vehicle is sold As-Is, with no warranty expressed or implied. If it breaks in half you get to keep both halves. IF you click the buy it now button, you will need to send a non-refundable 500 dollar deposit to secure the purchase. You will then have 10 days to close the deal or the deals off and I keep your deposit. Once you send me a deposit, I will snail mail you the bill of sale and supporting documents to sign. You will need to snail mail that back with a cashiers check payable to Dixie Trading Company. When the check clears, you may have the title & pick up the van. OR.... if you come here in person, we'll do the paper work here and you can take the van. I can even put on a 30 day tag for you. IF you bring a cashiers check, then I will hold the title until the check clears. If you bring a stack of Benjamin's, then you can take the title with you the same day. IF you send a transport company to pick it up. I will be here to assist them in loading and will text you photos of it as it's loaded so you know it's on the way and out of my hands. IF you are not a Vanner, a wanna'be Vanner or know what it means to be in the 2%, then this van is probably not for you. There is no shortage of ragged ass Dodge vans elsewhere for much less money, but this ragged ass Dodge van is special and if you can appreciate that, make me a fair and reasonable offer. As you can tell by this long winded description, I'm easy to get along with.
