I can assist with financing and transport as needed. This 1959 Ford Galaxie is a real throwback to the 1950’s. Introduced as a new model that year, it became Ford’s top-of-the-line full size automobile, taking the title from the Fairlane 500. It had all the styling you might expect from the era and became one of Ford’s best sellers for the next fifteen years. This very solid example has seen a lot of work in recent years. The frame and body are straight and solid with original floors throughout. It has been repainted in its original Indian Turquise / Colonial White two-tone color scheme. The paint looks great and is the perfect combination for 1959, especially with the rechromed bumpers and polished trim. Note the “Fairlane 500” badges were still used on the Galaxie that year. Still, while there is plenty of bling, the Galaxie has a more refined look than other 1959 models. This car also wears 15” American Racing aluminum wheels with BF Goodrich tires for improved performance. The drivetrain uses the smallest big block made by Ford, that being a 332 cubic inch “monster” based on the FE motor (which grew to 428 cubic inches by 1970). This is a great running setup that has been upgraded with a 4-barrel carburetor and PCV system. The engine is backed by a 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission and 9” rear end. The car also has power steering and power brakes for easy driving. There are also air shocks in back, while the dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers gives the car a little growl. The two-tone vinyl interior was redone in 2019 at a cost of more than $4,000. It too has a great 1950’s feel and is almost completely stock appearing except for a digital AM/FM radio and seat belts. The headliner and carpeting are excellent. Note the trunk was completely finished as well. The weatherstripping and seals have all been replaced and the wipers were upgraded to electric operation. Everything is in good operating condition throughout. This is not only a sharp looking example from the 1950’s, but it also provides a very comfortable drive both around town and on the highway. It has the generous proportions and soft ride that make these cars so distinct. But further, this Galaxie is one of those cars that can really take you back, where you go from just driving in a classic car to driving in a classic era.
