5.7L V8 HEMI "MAGNUM"Horsepower: 345 @ 5400 RPM It has not been Registered nor Titled. Torque: 375 @ 4400 RPM3 speed automatic transmissionI bought a Cobra replica body and Cobra replica frame that was adapted with a C4 Corvette rear end differential, front and rear suspension to fit the frame. This body and frame was professionally cut and sized to replicate the original AC Cobra inspired by Carrol Shelby. This Cobra is basically riding on the technology of a late 1980's Corvette with four wheel independent suspension, C4 axle shafts, Corvette brakes, etc. Frame is rectangular tubing with all welded seams and painted black. The frame is extremely durable and not cheap like some of the other round tubular frames out there that compromise integrity for weight reduction. This is really as good as it gets when it comes to these kit cars.Instead of mounting a Chevy or Ford engine and transmission, I decided to install a MOPAR engine and transmission. The engine is a 5.7L Dodge Hemi out of a 2004 Dodge Ram Pickup with less than 15,000 miles on it. This year engine does not have stock EGR as part of the emissions for this model year which made the conversion very easy to do. The stock intake was replaced with an XV Motorsports aluminum intake manifold with a 4 barrel Holley carburetor mounted to it. A stand alone MSD engine controller was installed to provide the timing for the engine since this engine does not have a distributor. Each cylinder has its own coil pack with two spark plugs per cylinder. The transmission is a brand new (bought in 2012) 904 Chrysler 3 speed automatic transmission built by TCI. It has a standard torque converter installed for daily driving. The radiator and transmission cooler are both brand new and made of aluminum for optimal cooling aided by an electric fan.Electric fuel pump installed outside the gas tank for optimal fuel pressure. Has a 15 gallon fuel tank and the engine runs perfect off of regular, 87 octane, fuel as it was designed to do so in the 2004 Dodge Ram.Power, four wheel disc brakes.Four brand new aluminum rims and tires. I have the caps for the centers still in the box.Tires: Nitto NT555 Extreme ZRFront: 245/45 ZR17Rear: 315/35 ZR17My goal was to make the first and only Hemi Cobra. As it currently stands it runs and drives very well with a lot of power and torque. The exhaust and interior needs finishing and the body needs to be prepped for paint. A must see to appreciate kit car. Does not come with a roll bar.You will have to go to the DMV and complete the process for registration and title. Since this is a kit car, there is no VIN number and it will be assigned to the car once you complete the DMV paperwork.Great winter project that is near completion! Email me with questions and please provide a phone number for me to call you back on. Way too much to describe over email or texting. Current total investment up to this point is around $30,000.Fun Fact from Wikipedia:"Shelby partners with DodgeShelby began working with Dodge at the request of Chrysler Corporation chairman Lee Iacocca. Iacocca had previously been responsible for bringing Shelby to the Ford Mustang. After almost a decade of tuning work, Shelby was brought on board as the "Performance Consultant" on the Dodge Viper Technical Policy Committee made up of Chrysler's executive Bob Lutz, Product Design chief Tom Gale, and Engineering Vice President François Castaing. Shelby was used for his wealth of experience to make the Viper as light and powerful as possible."Be the first to won a Hemi Cobra and win at the race track with a car that has less weight than any Corvette ever built and has the performance and power of a MOPAR Hemi driving the rear wheels. |
