CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
Welcome to my listing for a 69 vette roadster. I have owned 50 vettes or more. Procuring corvettes is a lifelong passion for me after I stopped driving mustangs. This Corvette was owned by a fellow that bought it in 1976 in Burbank, California. Shortly thereafter this man and his family moved to Tucson, Arizona and took the corvette with them. In 1977 the vette suffered catastrophic engine failure and the 427 block was deemed unusable. The man acquired a replacement 427 engine which was rebuilt by a well regarded shop in Tucson. There is a faded receipt for this work. The car remained garaged in Tucson until earlier this year when the fellow decided he was now a "Desert Rat" and dedicated himself to an 86 forerunner to explore Arizona and Utah. At this time he placed the car in the local want ads but found no takers. I found the car thru a friend who is local to Tucson. We had been traveling to avoid the California wildfire smoke and ended up staying at my uncles place. The vette was being serviced for a fuel delivery issue and the for sale sign was laying on the seat. We dickered around for 10 days until my family and I were just about to return to the bay area. At the last minute we swung a deal. From my time in the car game I knew a fellow who would safely transport it for me in an enclosed trailer and he came straight away. Without much further ado we loaded it up. Because of the fuel issue it wouldn't start and we all grunted and groaned and pushed it in. It made it a little less bittersweet for the former owner. I really love this car. Its perfect for a guy that doesn't need absolutely perfect things. I will keep it around until I find a suitable buyer. Don't waste your time with a sorry low offer. Once back at my garage all my friends and my partner in cars were impressed with this sweetheart of a vette. It had a desert grunge on the paint that wiped away with a little elbow grease. There is still more cleaning that can be done. We replaced the fuel pump, had the carb rebuilt by some super pros, did a thorough tune-up and replaced the troublesome lock-out cable from the column to the transmission. It fires up easy, even after a month in the garage. Now this beast has been unleashed. I did 100 mph on the highway after my initial shakedown, but got smoked by a Tesla! DRAT! I took it to a friends birthday party and stole his thunder. Nobody was interested in his new 70 C10 when the stingray turned up. The unassuming white exterior and sky blue interior help to blend into the traffic and not be so ostentatious. Sometimes this car makes me wish I was a single man again, and thats all I have to say about that. This is a far from perfect stingray, but for me its perfect. Just enough nicks and scratches that you can have fun and not worry. Its ready to be driven and enjoyed. When I cruised down the boulevard in my cowboy hat and covid mask to cars and coffee I felt like a badass riding out of the desert and into town. Heads turned and women gasped. Ok I made up the last part about the women, maybe. I guarantee you will not be disappointed in this cool old unrestored Chevy Stingray. Harris
