1962 Chevy II Nova The story of this car begins its first chapter in Georgia. The car started life as a model 400 and as most cars was a daily driver. The original owner must have taken pride in the ownership of this car being the factory original sheet metal is near perfect. In the second chapter of the Chevy II's life it was brought to Rochester NY in the late 60’s early 70’s. The owner at that time tastefully updated the nova with a 283ci small block and a Muncie 4 speed. The car was a Hot Rod on the Rochester streets for a few years and then parked in a garage in the town of Gates on the west side of Rochester where it sat until the late 1970's This is where the Nova started its third chapter of life. In 1980 a friend from high school bought the Nova in his senior year. Once again the little red Chevy II was Hot Rodding around the streets of Rochester. As most car stories go so does this one. After high school came a full time job, a wife, children and forty years flew by. During the last ten or so years the Nova had the full suspension rebuilt, the 283 engine rebuilt, the brakes and the clutch are new also the Cragar wheels with BFG’s. Now the fourth chapter of the Nova. I try to own and enjoy a different Hot Rod each summer and this car I truly enjoyed. Being I purchased the car from along time friend and knowing how Meticulous he is, the work he preformed on the Nova I believe is perfect. He has stated several times that over the past forty years he hasn’t driven the Nova 3000 miles. His enjoyment was going to the garage to tinker on the Nova. I however have driven the car to cruise nights, drag races and hot laps around town all summer it’s a great ride. Hopefully someone will enjoy it as much as I. With the storey of the Nova being told lets discuss the condition. Under the hood shows better than most and is spotless. The engine and drivetrain have been rebuilt. The under side is spotless and the floors and trunk are perfect. There is no rust or rot anywhere. The body has an old lacquer paint job from the early 70's.The paint is old and shows its age. The fenders, doors, and rear quarters are rust and rot free with the exception of the driver side rear quarter it has a blister the size of a quarter. The Nova runs strong, drives straight and stops well. The Muncie four speed has a new clutch and pressure plate. The interior has bucket seats but they are old brittle and the carpet was removed for the same reason.
