This included offering a longer wheel base as well, mechanical fuel injection, lightweight magnesium engine case and a new “E” model designation. These ’69 2.0L engines had one of the highest compressions for an air-cooled Porsche. In fact, the E model was reportedly faster from 0 to 60 than any other 911 S up to that time. However, less than 2,000 coupes were imported to the U.S. and very few survived. This 911E was built on October 22nd,1968. It was ordered with the following factory options: Antenna – Left Loudspeaker in Dashboard Michelin Tires Although not much is known about the early history, we believe it was sold new in Oregon and lived most if not all of its life near Salem, Oregon. The primary early owner was a U.S. Army officer who was stationed in Fort Bragg but kept the car at his home on the West Coast. He put the car into dry storage in 1989 where it sat until a local Bend, Oregon resident bought it in 2014 to restore. This owner never got around to the restoration so he sold it a year later to the current Orange County enthusiast. The car was in solid condition with no signs of major rot/rust or damage. It was complete with the numbers matching drivetrain and all the metal panels were original. This SoCal owner flew up to Oregon to check out the project, purchased it, and had it shipped back home where this 4-year+ restoration began. The owner, with help from industry friends, disassembled the car and cataloged all the parts. The body was sent to be media blasted to determine what work was needed. As it turns out, the body was in excellent condition with very little rust. It mostly needed a new floor and front suspension pan. Sleepers Speed Shop in Costa Mesa, CA put the car on a rotisserie and did all the necessary metal work on the bottom. The car then went to East Autobody (Shane East) of Orange, California for a complete repaint in its original factory Tangerine as well as fitment of the body panels. The mechanicals were trusted to Aase Motors of Fullerton, California. Allan Faragalah did the engine rebuild. Highlights include: Complete tear down of motor and split the case: Case machining by Ollies with Barrel shims, inserts, case savers, and bypass kit Full engine overhaul Mag and polish crank Resurface 2.2 heads/port to S specification 2.2 S Mahle Piston and cylinders (9.8:1 compression) 911 S Dougherty Racing camshafts New MFI injectors Gus at Pacific rebuilt MFI pump to 2.2 S spec Throttle bodies rebuilt by Eurometrix Elephant Racing oil lines with early S trombone oil cooler in front fender Powdercoat tins Clutch kit/resurface flywheel Oil fed chain tensioners (930 style) Valve job Replace front hubs Rebuild steering system and u-joints Shifter bushings Aluminum front S brake calipers Rebuild brake calipers, brake lines, master cylinder, and Ferodo brake pads New fuel and oil tanks with all hoses Refinish original Leistritz muffler and heat exchangers Electronic ignition Rebuild distributor Transmission complete rebuild with new syncros and bearings Koni shocks and struts/all new suspension bushings/rubber In August of 2019, after driving 150 break-in miles, the owner took the car back to Aase for valve adjustment, oil service, inspection, and other minor sorting. The complete interior was redone by K&H European of Garden Grove. This included all carpet (Haargarn), door panels, seat upholstery/restoration, dash refurbishment, new visors, and headliner. The rest of trim, rubber, hardware, etc. were sourced from Sunset Porsche, Aase Sales, Stoddard, and Sierra Madre. The gauges were mechanically restored by North Hollywood Speedometer while the original patina of the faces was retained. This 911 E is very fresh from restoration and it looks great. East did a great job getting the color, paint, and panel fitment just right. There are no signs of use. The glass looks great with all the proper factory stampings. The rare 3-bar decklid grille is original and in excellent condition. The deco trim, rubber, light lenses, and rubber are all new. The factory 15x6 Fuchs have been polished and are wearing full tread Pirelli tires in the OEM size (185/70). The original unrestored 14” spare Fuchs with tire is in the trunk. The interior is equally as nice. Most everything on the interior is new. There are also no signs of use. Everything smells new as well. The gauges all work properly including the clock. The interior lights also work. The original door pockets were straightened and expertly repaired by Juan Ortiz. California registration is current and paid through March of 2020. This 911 E includes two sets of keys, spare wheel/tire, partial tool kit, restoration receipts, and original Certificate of Authenticity. *Note: VIN and other numbers withheld to protect against fraud.
