I am offering from my collection what I believe is one of the best W116 body 1979 300SD Mercedes around. This Mercedes has 75,692 original miles. The miles are tracked by the extensive service history since the day it was built!! I have the original window sticker showing the car was $28,815. The lien free, clean title is in hand. This Mercedes was maintained with no expense spared budget. Over $11,000 has been spent on service and upkeep in the past 2500 miles alone! From Air Conditioning and climate control system (all new), complete new exhaust from the motor to the tail pipe, new tires and refinished wheels, brakes, radiator and of course more. It is very rare finding a show car example that has been pampered and maintained to this level. The combination of careful care, proper storage, limited driving so the miles are low and a, "Spare no expense" budget makes this a very rare and special find. At the end of the pictures are 2 test drive videos.The motor in this car just couldn't be better. It always starts right up and is ready to go in all temperatures. The motor stays cool in hot temperatures with the Air Conditioning on. Upon heavy acceleration going up a hill, the exhaust is very clean (see in one of the videos below). There are no leaks of any kind which is hard to believe from a 40 year old Mercedes. The transmission shifts great!! It has been serviced along the way to keep it shifting fantastic. Clean cherry red fluid as it's supposed to have. Also no leaks. The heating and cooling system in this car works great! New climate control servo with aluminum base to prevent cracking, new climate control touch panel, new air conditioning compressor and converted to R134. It works great! The suspension feels great. Tight, responsive and no play in the steering. Just like a 75k mile pampered Mercedes should feel. The exhaust is all brand new. Front pipe with the flex pipe, factory Mercedes Benz middle section and the new rear muffler section. New brackets and mounts of course.The factory Mercedes Bundt style wheels were sandblasted bare and refinished properly. Of course new tires mounted on the refinished wheels. The full size spare, tool kit and jack are unused. When new this Mercedes was Rusty Jones coated (Rusty Jones was a nice generous heavy coating applied to prevent rust) so it is protected from the environment. The paint and upholstery combination was a $649 option. Anthracite Grey Metallic with Bamboo Mercedes Benz Tex. Of course this was a garage queen so the paint is beautiful and goes over well at the car show and cruise nights. It appears that the car has original paint in most areas. There is a spot on the drivers side door that was a chip and was touched up (not well) and a light bump ding on the rear passenger door along the molding (hard to detect). The Bamboo interior is stunning. Just original spotless seats, great door panels, fresh carpets, great headliner, dark wood, no cracks in the dash and a perfect steering wheel with texture (not smoothed out by use). The car was a non smokers or pets car. Smells consistent with a 1979 new 300SD. This Mercedes has the optional $665 power sliding roof that works great. In the trunk is the sun and wind deflector. This one also has the original Mexico Cassette Stereo that was $317 and it is working well. Power antenna works also. Power windows all work properly. It has a strong correct size battery. This one has the plug in heater option for cold weather starts. The cruise control will not hold idle. It can be set and accelerate with the handle but won't keep up speed. (common with these cars). In conclusion, this Mercedes 300SD is very rare. I can choose 5 receipts within 2,500 miles along with the exhaust system $1200 and refinished wheels and tires and it's over $11,000. It sure is nice having a 40 year old Mercedes that is fresh enough to drive today as if it was 40 years ago. Safe, dependable, and gorgeous!!
