CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
1965 VW split panel for the European market. A member of the US Air Force imported it to the USA, The original engine blew on his way home from the port and the bus sat in his garage for years. This bus was never very rusty, Rust was cut from the rockers, rear lower corners, lower nose and a few other small areas and replaced with Classic fab panels. The body was epoxy sealed and painted with base/clear. The door jams were left white so a color change would be easy. It has a well built 1915cc engine that runs smooth and has been very dependable. Around 2500 miles on the engine. Extractor exhaust with a quiet muffler that has a nice throaty sound. A deep oil sump and full flow replaceable canister oil filter. I also installed a High output alternator and converted it to 12V. New fuel tank. Heat is not connected, The engine has OEM heat exchangers, and All the heat components are present except the center tube, which people use pvc for usually. Transaxle is from a 65 type 34, it has been inspected and resealed. All new brake system, rebuilt front suspension and steering, wiring is sorted, everything works as it should. It has a hidden sound system, a Stereo amp controlled by a switch on the dash, your phone plugs into the amp, then play tunes from your phone. The radio area is original, uncut, just with a chrome cover plate on it. The interior is aluminum riveted panels, a cross between an Airtstream and Paul Evans Furniture, There is a couch/bed in the rear with seat belts. Front seats are waterproof vinyl with 3 point seat belts. The front safari windows are very nice for airflow and just look cool. The rest of the glass is original. The original speedometer was broken, so I don't know the true mileage. I replaced it with an NOS USA speedometer. This bus was completely stripped, restored and is ready for adventure. It cruises easy at 65, and runs slow around town without the engine loading up. It has always been stored inside in a heated dehumidified garage. My family and I have had a lot of fun with this bus, it's been stone dependable and people love seeing it. I am moving on to another project, need funds and space, I have the original german license plates, German title, and some other paperwork, original jack and spare rim, also a taxi Lamp for the roof. Clean NJ title in my name. Bus is Located 45 minutes away from the port of Newark, New Jersey.
