CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER
This is a relisting of my solid little 1959 PV544. This car was going to be a fun restoration with a really cool power train but I have too many other projects and not enough time. Details: - Original motor has been replaced with a larger B20 motor (possibly from a P1800) - Original transmission has been replaced with a 4-speed transmission/ overdrive unit and short driveshaft. The transmission tunnel has been enlarged to accommodate the OD transmission and appropriate driveshaft has been fitted to the car. At the present time, the reverse/low gear lockout switch for the OD is not installed on the transmission, so the overdrive has never been tested. However, all the hard work of installing the OD unit has been completed. - Motor runs well, gives decent power, and doesn’t smoke. - Drum brakes work well, stopping in normal distances. - Clutch is smooth on engagement, and doesn’t slip. - Gearbox shifts as it should, and makes no odd noises. - Radiator is in good shape. - Exhaust system is also in good condition. - Body is solid, but paint is tired. A section of the floor has been replaced. There is some surface rust in the trunk. There are some minor bubbles in the paint at the rocker panels and at the front lower edge of the hood (spare hood included). There is a crease in the hood and one in the roof (see photos). - The front seats are in great shape but the rest of the interior is very tired, but serviceable enough that it can be regularly driven. Has vent windows! - Electrical system is in good shape (and wiring diagram fits on one page!) - Tires are very recently new. Spare parts included are a partially disassembled engine (pistons frozen), rear end, 4-speed transmission w/ bell housing, drive shaft, steering column, hood, interior pieces including seats (poor condition) and a tub of miscellaneous items. It has enough power that you can drive it modern day traffic, yet is different enough to be interesting. There is great support in the ‘online community’ of Volvo forums, and there are a few marque specialists that supply interesting upgrades and retrofits like converting generator to alternator, or front disk brake upgrades. You can’t necessarily get parts at your local NAPA store, but parts are available. Rock Auto shows brake parts still around, and forums, marques specialists and searching E-bay often give good results.
