1950 OLDSMOBILE- ROCKET 88 'Likely the best 'SURVIVOR' available today'If you are a serious lover of vintage automobiles here is one you need to add to your collection...or just make it your show car, driver, trophy winner, or whatever!This vehicle is owned by a local couple who are moving back to the mid-west. They hate to part with this vehcile because of it's heritage...but life dictates....Let's talk about this one......This Rocket 88 Deluxe, 4 door sedan, is owned by the grandson of it's original purchaser. Yes, that's right in 69 years this car has always been 'part of the family'.As a true survivor everything is original. It shows a true 77,000 original miles.The original V8, with 4 speed HydraMatic transmission are numbers matching. From 1950 until 1977 this 'family' car was driven regularly. Between 1978 and 2005 she was driven only occasionally -- just enough to keep her fresh and nimble.She started her 'garage' life in late 2005. For the last 14 years she has been protected from the elements, exercising like the elderly lady she is. At least every 4 months she was started while resting on elevation blocks. The transmission fluid was cycled between forward and reverse to lubricate internal parts.In anticipation of this sale, over the last 60 days she has been driven regularly to loosen her joints.If CARFAX could view her record it would report, no accidents, no rust, original black paint, original cloth upholstery, The paint does show a level of pitting to be expected. The cloth seating is above average. The door panels do exhibit water mark stains.The original glass and chrome are exceptionally nice. The crank windows are all operational. The original radio and clock are in the dashThe tri-colored hubcaps and beauty rims are all in exceptional condition.A new exhaust system has been installed in the last 45 days.On the needs side...plan for a new master cylinder, and probably a few wheel cylinders before hitting the road for serious travels.All wires and rubber pieces are original. Note the age alone suggests that some anticipate replacement. This is an exception survivor. Judge, bid, and buy it accordingly. Know that it has good bones!!! Expect it to be numbers matching, and original...except for a recently installed exhaust system. The paint is original...showing typical aging over the years.
