This particular Grifo (chassis number 336) was the prototype for the Series II “IR8” Grifo models and was the first to feature covered headlamps and the 350ci/350hp V8 engine from the Chevrolet Corvette. This Series II prototype has several unique features that were installed by the factory and are still present today including an “Iso Rivolta” script on the dashboard and the Grifo emblem on the trunk lid. 336 Grifo prototype was first shown at the 1970 Turin Motor Show and used in promotional photographs and brochures. Originally, Grifo 336 was finished in Glacier White, however, before leaving the factory in 1974 to its first retail purchaser, Griffo 336 was painted Silver Gray as it appears today. Grifo 336 was then imported to Southern California to a private owner in San Francisco until the late 1980s when it was acquired by Ferrari of Los Gatos. In 1996 Grifo 336 was acquired by one of the founding members of the who cherished 336 until the spring of 2017.
