CAR DESCRIPTION FROM SELLER | |

I am making available for sale my 1966 Mustang GT fastback. Before you read any farther, I want to state up front that this is not a show car or trailer queen. The car is beautiful and breaks the necks of pedestrians as you drive by in it, but it is a driver. To my knowledge it has never had a frame off restoration, and was driven by me as it was driven by the owner before me. Therefore, it is not perfect. That being said, though it is a driver, it is one of the nicest drivers you will see. I tried my best to keep it as perfect as I could during my ownership, but it does have some issues which I will try to describe to the best of my ability. First a description: The car is a 4 speed 289 A code car. To the best of my knowledge it is an original GT car with its original motor. As you Mustang experts know, there is know way to prove if a 1966 Mustang was originally a GT car or not because there are no records. However, this car has all the signs that it was. It has:Front disc brakesFog lights with switch in correct location. When fog lights are turned on, tail lights come on.Close ratio steering box with original tag with AX codeLarge master cylinderTrumpet exhaust through rear valanceSpecial dual exhaust bracket bolts to move exhaust away from brake lines. Would have only been on original dual exhaust cars.A code car.Looks like original GT badging/fuel cap.I believe this car has it original motor. Here’s why:Build date of the car was July 15, 1966.Block date code is June 17, 1966Engine assembly date is June 29, 1966There’s no way to prove it, but these dates add up perfectly to give evidence that it is the original engine.Other things in its favor:All gauges workEverything on the car works with the exception of the windshield washer. Car has original date coded distributor Has correct 4 barrel Autolite 4100 carburetorHas correct phosphate & oil finish parts like hood hinges, shock tower caps and hood latch.Interior is in excellent condition. No rips or tears in seats.Has Rally Pac (reproduction)Has “remote” mirror optionHas nite/day rear view mirror optionHas working fastback rear ventsHas new exhaustHas new carpetHave a ton of receipts/history of car dating back to 1989.Has fresh oil change. No known rust anywhere on car except small bubble described below.Things that need work:Windshield washer (I think problem is in switch)Has small chip repair in windshieldColor was originally Candy Apple Red. Someone probably back in the 1990’s had car repainted. They did an excellent job, but color is a shade off.Does not have original transmission. Has the correct one, a 4 speed Toploader, but numbers are not correct.Someone back in the day did floor panel repair. It is definitely solid, but doesn’t look the greatest from underneath. Small bubble of rust under stripe below drivers side door. Has reproduction radio (I would prefer to find original one)Carpet behind back seat is starting to get wrinkles, needs to be reglued.I have tried to be completely honest about what I know is right and wrong with the car.
