1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 4-SpeedFor sale is a rare, 1963 Studebaker Avanti R2 4-speed project car. According to information available on the web, there were approximately 500 supercharged Avantis built in 1963 and 1964 with a 4-speed transmission. These cars were ahead of their time! This was the first American car to feature front Disc Brakes as standard equipment. This is a California car, with no visible rust in the frame. The "hog troughs" (rocker boxes) are in excellent condition. The body shows no signs of any accidents or fiberglass repairs that I can see. The car looks to have had a repaint at one time, which is close to the original color of "Avanti Red". The car does not run, but the engine turns by hand easily. The original B/W T-10 4-speed and 3.31:1 Twin Traction rear end are there. The supercharger is missing, although easily available. The only other parts that are missing are the hub caps. The hard to find ignition shielding is included, but not installed. The rest of the car appears to be complete. The dash pad is not cracked, which is rare. All of the glass is in good condition. The car came out of an estate and there is no title. It has been sitting for several years. Overall, this Avanti is a great candidate for a restoration due to the lack of rust and accidents. I will include an original shop manual and parts book. In addition, it is the best of the best......a factory Red, 4-speed, supercharged Avanti! |
