From original purchase until 09/2002, it was driven and garaged by my late grandfather in Island Park, NY. I purchased this Firebird from him as a teenager and have kept it garaged and clean for the past 17 years. I’ve have had a lot of fun maintaining this neat piece of American engineering! It’s a true example of “They don’t build them the way the used to”; The amount of iron and steel in this car is impressive. Aesthetically, the car is unique as well. I have not seen another Trans Am optioned with this interior/exterior combination, and without the Firebird decal on the hood the aerodynamic architecture of the body can really be appreciated. With that said, after enjoying the car for 17 years I feel it is time to move on. I’d like to use the money to fund other projects in my life so I’ve decided to pass it to someone who may enjoy it as I did. The Business As I’ve outlined in the New Parts spreadsheet and photos, the body has undergone some professional restoration and the engine has been professionally rebuilt. The vehicle is numbers matching and rust free, with a clean title. In the spreadsheet, I’ve listed the parts that have been replaced by me or a Classic auto shop, and I have documentation for the buyer as well. Additional photographs of restoration work available upon request. The upgrades I’ve performed on the car have been modest to keep the reliability, yet they are a nice improvement towards driver experience. The original 400 cu.in Pontiac engine block has been rebuilt to 406 cu in, with a mild, low-end torque camshaft, high flow manifolds and true dual exhaust. The carburetor is a new Rochester Quadrajet. I’ve kept the original Rochester Quadrajet carburetor if the buyer would like it. I will also include several pieces of Pontiac literature, including the original paperback version of the Pontiac Factory Service Manual which will tell you everything you’d ever need to know about this machine. Mechanically, the vehicle is sound; It runs well, and it looks great. You can expect to receive looks and compliments when you drive. DisclosureThe vehicle has been driven and so has some minor imperfections here and there. There is a scrape on the rear bumper, and some interior details to be taken care of. The driver seat has some stitching that is torn, and the vehicle needs a new rear defrost switch installed. The front passenger headlight should be replaced as it's captured some water inside it. The Air Conditioning has been removed so that the engine bay could be more neatly maintained. I still have the original air conditioning parts. |
