1968 Dodge Charger (XP29G8B293xxx) 440c.i. motor, auto 727 transmission (was original big block 383 car), bucket seats, console, power steering, power drum brakes, white trunk stripe, fender tag, hood mounted turn signals, was factory A/C car (currently not on or with car), 8 ¾ rear end, 3.55 posi diff., factory 26” radiator, factory thumb wheel AM radio, black interior, 15” Torque Thrust style polished aluminum wheels with Cooper Cobra Tires and TTI dual exhaust with H-pipe factory chrome tips. I just finished a light restoration on this absolutely awesome Charger (more than 300 hours)!!! The previous owner has owned the Charger more than 20 years. The PA title shows the miles as exempt because of the age of the car but it wouldn’t surprise me if the miles are correct at 86,009. This fine Charger provides an excellent example of an all purpose car for shows, cruises and cruising! A restoration of this caliber takes a lot of time, patience and money to be done correct. Please understand this is not your average “driver” condition Charger! I typically restore or finish around 8-10 Mopars a year and have been working on them for more than 30 years and I do everyone as they were my own to keep. I put a lot of time, effort, pride and money in the cars that I offer for sale which is evident when viewing one of my cars compared to others for sale. I do a lot of the small things with great attention to detail that most people overlook or don’t know how to fix it correctly. PAINT, BODY AND FRAME The body, paint and panels are very straight and in extremely nice shape and appear to be the original sheet metal! The floor boards, doors, fenders, trunk floor and trunk extensions are all in great shape and appear to be original. Even the factory tabs are still on the lower quarters as well as the gray plastic factory plugs in the trunk extensions. The bottom inside edges of the doors are spotless and look fantastic! The doors open and close with ease and the seams are excellent. The original trunk floor looks very good and you can still see the correct factory spot-welds. The frame is in excellent shape and the undercarriage is also very clean and neat with no rust and factory undercoating. The base coat/clear coat paint I believe is around 15 years old and looks absolutely beautiful! There are only a few very small paint stone chips that were brush touched on the lower rear quarters (smaller than a pencil eraser). The door jams and trunk jam are excellent and the paint looks extremely nice! I have photo’s of these on the extra picture link below. All in all the paint is absolutely beautiful!!! After wet sanding and buffing the entire car you would honestly think that it was just painted. The super high-gloss deep clear coat shine was just professionally wet sanded with 1500, 2000 and 2500 grit paper to achieve a high caliber ultra finish. This long process alone took over 60 hours and the finish shows it! I am also very picky and critical, as well as honest so please do not hesitate to call me as I will crucify my own car and do a complete walk around with you on the phone! GLASS, CHROME AND TRIM The glass is original date coded glass, in very good condition for factory glass! The driver side door glass has a few small scratches towards the back. The windshield is pretty nice but it does have a few small marks on it. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed from one of the best in the business (Tri-City Plating) and are in excellent condition. The door handles and driver’s side remote mirror are in nice original shape. The flip-up gas cap, trim ring and antenna are new. The trim pieces are super clean and were polished for optimum shine. The front grill appears to be in very nice original condition with no cracks. The vent window chrome is original and has the common light pitting (shown in photos). INTERIOR The black interior is in very nice shape and has been restored. Some newer items are the carpet, speaker shelf, trunk divider, sill/scuff plates, seat covers, headliner, front chrome arm rest bases, restored steering wheel, glove box liner and gauge faces. The dash cluster is in very nice condition and all factory gauges work and operate correctly. All lighting works as should including the high/low beams, dome light, reverse lights, tail lights, console lights, parking lights, turn signals, hood mount turn signals, four-way flashers, map light, and license plate light. The fan motor, wipers, horn, and E-brake all work. The factory thumb wheel AM radio is currently not working. The A/C heater box is still under the dash if anyone is looking to add the A/C back on as it appears to be very original and not messed with. I also cleaned and or replaced the following: fuse box, fuses, wire ends and connectors, bulkhead, light bulbs and sockets, switches and much more! DRIVE TRAIN The strong running 440c.i. is a 1973 HP police interceptor steel crank motor with a stock rebuild and some minor upgrades (done years ago by the previous owner). It has the factory style point’s distributor (new points/condenser), Holley aluminum intake, Mopar aluminum valve covers, TTI nickel chrome header’s, mild cam and top end work and is topped off with a Edelbrock electric choke 750cfm carb. The HP 440 makes really good power and runs excellent. This engine runs extremely smooth and very easy to drive in any given traffic condition. It has a very good idle and excellent off idle throttle response. The casting date on the 440 is 1-20-73 and the flat ID badge on top is J440 HP 2 13. The heavy duty restored 3-core 26” factory radiator is part # 2898070 and has a brand new correct Mopar fan shroud for excellent cooling. The automatic 727 was also rebuilt and shifts excellent through the gears and is an absolute blast to drive! The Charger has excellent drivability and cools well even in stop and go traffic. This excellent drive train combo runs and drives awesome in all conditions whether highway or city driving. The 8 ¾ rear-end has a 3.55 posi unit with a #741 center section and just adjusted the axle end- play and checked rear-end oil. The center section and rear-end still have several of the factory paint markings still visible! SUSPENSION The front suspension has newer upper and lower ball joints, upper control arm bushings, tie rod ends and many other newer parts. All the brakes have been checked over and adjusted. It has newer brake pads (front and rear), drums, brake hardware, brakes lines, front brake flex lines, new rear wheel cylinders, installed a new rear LH E-brake cable line and adjusted E-brake.
