This Henry J is an actual drag racing survivor from the 60's & 70's. It came out of Kentucky and raced in that area of the south. If you look at the stickers, National Dragster went out of business in the 70's. I purchased it in 2008 and my health changed drastically a few months later. At that point my health became more important and the car was put on the back burner. I've worked on reconstructing it off & on over the years but haven't been able to finish it. I sub-framed it welding the joint, boxing and welding all four sides plus plug welding. I installed a Speedway straight axle w/discs, a 70' Cougar 9" rear along with new 66' Mustang rear leaf springs and 10" slicks on deep dish chrome reverse wheels. If you know about HJ's then you know that the sub-frame behind the rocker panels and the floors all rot out. I've stabilized the body, something that must be done before removing any part of the sub-frame or floor. Once that was reconstructed the plan was to put in an all aluminum interior, no frills, in keeping with it's racing heritage. I also wasn't going to paint the car as it would lose it's racing originality. You see, I didn't have to try to duplicate an old gasser because I had a real one. Motor and transmission will be your choice as to what you want to run. No mounts have been installed. I've accumulated parts which are included (see photos). There is a new aluminum radiator which is included but not in the photos. The rest is up to you. I love looking at it and dreaming but to many projects, lack of space (can't move in the garage), health and age have forced me to realize that there aren't enough years left to get them all done. I have 5 cars. I'm selling 3 and keeping 2. Two is manageable for now. The car is sold with a bill of sale. I have had the car registered in the past. It is sold with no motor or transmission or warranty. What you see in the photos is what you get. Feel free to ask questions. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. A $500.00 "non refundable" deposit is required. Vehicle will not be released until paid for or cleared thru bank. ***Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I have a shipper that I've used in the past. He uses a single car trailer and can load any parts that don't fit inside the car into the truck. His price was the same as other shippers but you got personal service.*** Please make sure you have the funds before bidding. If you have no intention of paying, don't bid. |
