Here we have a 1968 Pontiac Firebird convertible. It is one of about 17,000 convertibles built in 1968. I will call this car a project car because it was fixed up several years ago and will need to be redone to be a show car. It has been sitting for a couple years. It does run and drive and stop. With a little work you could use it as it is but it would warrant a restoration to make it a very nice car. There was rust repair in the past and there is additional rust repair that would need to be done, mainly in the radiator support. A new aftermarket one is about $100. I have pictures of the rust in the radiator support and pictures of the underneath I can send you, just ask as eBay will only allow 24 pictures. I am listing this car for a friend who does not have time to do the work. I am not sure which size Pontiac engine is in the car. Here are the codes and numbers on the front of the engine; I could not see the casting numbers on the back of the engine:Code: YCNumbers: 577060There is a aftermarket intake and carburetor on the car now and what appears to be an original two barrel intake in the truck. There are also some new restoration parts that go with the car, a dash pad cap, weatherstrips, window welts, some emblems, etc. Engine starts up and seems to run good but there is a noise coming from the engine compartment. It could be a lower noise in the engine or it could be loose torque converter bolts, I was unable to pinpoint exactly what it is. I always assume the worst. The interior is all there and complete. The top is in pretty decent condition with one small hole about 1 inch long. Buy this car knowing you will have to do some work to it. No, it cannot be driven home. It can be driven on a trailer with no problem. Please, only bid if you are serious about buying. $500 nonrefundable deposit at the auction end, balance within seven days. The car comes with proper transfer paperwork and a New York State Transferable Registration which is the same as a Title for cars built before 1973. I will help assist with your transportation needs if necessary. Any questions, ask away. |
