Only 425 were produced during the last year of LaSalle production. Only 28 are documented to exist. Current owner purchased the car in Southern California in 1997 and has only driven it 1,200 miles since 2003. Motor and Driveline: Motor has been updated with a 1966 Cadillac 429 V8 with Hydromatic transmission. Car starts up easily and runs strong. The electrical system is 12 volt. 1940 LaSalle motor, front seat frame and other parts are available for pick up in Groveland, CA. Exterior: Car appears black, but it’s been repainted the original dark Cavern green. The repaint is older, there are a few small rust bubbles on the running boards and a few chips and scratches in the paint. The is no rust damage on the body or fenders. The convertible top is in good condition and works like it should. Interior: 1967 Eldorado split bench seat. The rest of the interior is all LaSalle and in good condition. 1940 LaSalle sales were strong, so strong that Cadillac decided to pull the plug to avoid eroding the brand.
