Purchased in 2006 from a guy trying to turn it into an SS (like every other clone out there) and use it for drag racing. I did not want that. I just wanted a clean non-SS car that did not involve chasing rust.Condition: Never driven in wet since 2006. Hand-polished stainless steel bolts, nuts and washers almost everywhere. New interior except for the instrument panel. Undercarriage super clean. In over 13 years, the only rust that has recently appeared are a few thumbtack-sized bubbles at the upper edge of the rear passenger wheel well, which can only be seen from below. I have stripped everything SS off except for the fender badges, which are not easy to get to, not to mention the remaining holes I would have to deal with. Original factory build sheet and some previous owner sale / registration papers back to 1989. Built on Jan 7th, 1970 at the Leeds Plant in KC, MO, then shipped to a dealer in Pocatello, ID. Purchased used in Klamath Falls, OR in Feb 1989. Registered in Chico, CA 2000 - 2004. Restored early 2006. Purchased in 2006 in San Francisco, CA. Purchased by me in July 2006.Engine: 72 BBC 454 bored to 476, BIG solid roller cam, aluminum roller rockers, iron heads, M/T valve covers. Single plane intake & Edelbrock 850 with AN fuel fittings. Mechanical fuel pump. ½ inch hard line to tank. New fuel filters and pressure regulator with gauge. New (July 2019) plug wires - massive 8.65mm Moroso Ultra 40s. The high capacity oil pan should really be replaced as it hangs below the front crossmember. Summit brand M-S-D ignition installed well away from heat of firewall area behind the drivers-side headlights.Exhaust: Hooker Super Comp long-tube headers, 3 inch mandrel exhaust with X-pipe, Flowmaster 40s, dumped before rear axle. The headers should be eventually be replaced since they hang too low.Cooling: New (July 2019) 4-core aluminum radiator with dual Flex-a-lite electric fans and stainless steel flex upper and lower hoses. Heater hoses are routed within the passenger fender to increase cooling capacity and for a cleaner look.Drivetrain: TH400 trans with shift kit, 3500 stall, driveshaft hoop, B&M ratchet shifter, Ford 9 inch rear, 4.11 with spool, 15 inch Weld wheels with long NHRA studs. Largest rear tires that will fit without tubs. Rear wheels slip just enough that turns and u-turns are not an issue. No issues with this in the 13 years I have owned it.Performance: Has a nice, nasty lope idle that can be felt in your chest. Sets off car alarms just cruising around. Estimated ¼ mile ET of mid 10s with slicks per previous owner. This is not a car you should drive on the freeway for a long distance. If you are looking for that, I recommend installing an overdrive trans and/or changing the rear end. Around town this car WILL turn heads and get thumbs-up from anyone paying attention. Will light the tires at will. Stomp on it and the engine responds instantly. Rear end spool keeps the car pointed forward. Never on a dyno but my best guess at power is at least 600HP. I have it rev-limited to 6500 rpm via the ignition box.Body: Very minor imperfections on a paint job done at least 13 years ago. Mirror finish. Painted SS stripes. I have never driven it in wet, never even seen a water hose since I bought it. Water is the enemy! Has spent its time with me 100% garaged and under a Dustop car cover. Rear bumper kill switch.Hardware: I have replaced nearly every nut, bolt, washer and screw with hand-polished stainless steel except where a graded bolt is needed. My kids wanted to help restore the car so I gave them regular stainless bolts from ACE Hardware and had them grind the numbers off and sand/polish them until they looked chrome - over 100 bolts! Header bolts and lock washers are chrome ARP.Interior: My son and I gutted the interior and installed everything new except for the instrument panel. This is a personal preference anyway, so it is ready for your finishing touch. Original seat belts and buckles. Sound-deadening adhesive mat used on the floor pan, trans tunnel and doors. I never felt the need to install a stereo. That solid lifter BBC sound is enough for me! New visor brackets and new rear view mirror. New side glass rollers and fuzzies also replaced. New dash vents are included with the sale, but I do not have time to install them.TRUNK: Fully dressed with Odyssey AGM battery and custom spare tire cover.Undercarriage: Super clean. Since I never drive it unless the roads are dry, I only have to wipe dust and cobwebs off now and then. Non vacuum-assisted front disk and rear drum brakes and suspension are all stock except for the rear end mentioned above. Power steering. I have the original wiper motor and washer and are included with the sale.Documentation: Original factory build sheet and some previous owner information/registration papers back to 1989.Car shows: I used to regularly take this to local shows and it did quite well. It has a 2nd place trophy for Muscle Cars in 2009 and placed 2nd in class and earned a special choice award at the Oct. 2019 Fallen Heroes car show. I will be sad to part with her, but I need to work on restoring my high school car before I'm too old to enjoy it!More pictures and video available upon request. Thanks for looking. No trades. No tire kickers. You are bidding on the car, not a right to inspect the car. If you'd like to inspect it before bidding, I'd be happy to show it to you. Cash or certified bank funds only please. I will not release the car until funds are verified.I would include a video link of the car idling but eBay rules say noooooo. |
