Offered to the discriminating muscle car collector - This investment grade Shelby GT350 Hertz began life as a rent-a-racer at the San Diego, Ca. airport prior to being sold to Drew Ford in San Diego,8/10/1967. I purchased it from the second listed owner in 1997 with only 36,214 documented miles,. It now has 45,444 miles.with it’s original Shelby American installed factory high performance items include: 1966 Impact racing seat belts, fiberglass side body brake racing scoops ,original cobra intake , open letter “ buddy bar” valve covers, original Cobra “T” aluminum 7+quart racing oil pan ,original undamaged fiberglass hood with steel reinforce, rear-end tag, original to this engine it’s high performance heads , rare correctly restored Hertz Magnum 500 wheels, rare original 9000 rpm cobra “ thin-needle”tachometer( most you see have the thicker base needle which is a replacement) , unrestored and still beautiful wood grain steering wheel, and M-1 casted traction master under rider bars , installed by Shelby American at the Los Angeles airport manufacturing hanger, and much more. At time of purchase according to Howard Pardee, the 1966 Shelby registrar, this is one of only 8 know examples to retain its original Hertz Aluminum Core support rental tag used by Hertz to rent with a credit card in the day. This car is featured in 4-published books by David Newhardt, such as "Mustang Milestones", "The Mustang", "Mustang Gallery", and "Mustang Forty Years". Also used by for the Shelby Hertz and was featured in an episode of "Jay Leno's Garage".Still wearing its original, as delivered, California Black and Gold license plates adding to its history of a dry west coast rust-free life. All original factory sheet metal including original rust-free floor pans. The numbers matching engine ( ford vin on block same as both aprons as original) was put in the hands of some of the “masters “ in so-cal and is now more powerful ; reliable and ready for unleaded premium fuel; It is finely tuned and sorted for trouble free ownership.
